Mianda was a human who flew as a pilot for the Imperial Navy of the Galactic Empire, earning the rank of major. He was part of a group of Imperial officers that lined up in a hangar on the Death Star 2 superweapon for the arrival of Sith Lord Darth Vader in 4 ABY. During the Battle of Endor, he flew a TIE/ln space superiority starfighter against the Alliance to Restore the Republic.

Biography[]

Mianda[2] was a human[1] pilot who reached the rank of major within the officer corps of the Imperial Navy[2] during the Galactic Empire's fight against the Alliance to Restore the Republic in the Galactic Civil War.[1] In 4 ABY,[3] he[2] was part of the Imperial forces stationed on board the Imperial superweapon known as the Death Star II, which was being constructed in the Endor system. During the construction, Mianda stood in a line up of Imperial officers within one of the station's hangars for the arrival of the Sith Lord Darth Vader in order to increase the speed of its construction. Upon disembarking from his shuttle, Vader greeted Moff Tiaan Jerjerrod and walked with him past Mianda, who remained still.[1]

Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine later joined Vader on the Death Star as part of a trap the Emperor was setting for the Alliance, using himself and the station's unfinished nature as bait for the rebel fleet. Falling for the bait, the rebel fleet entered the Endor system and attacked the Death Star before being surronded by Imperial forces. Wanting to demonstrate the power of the Death Star's superlaser on the larger rebel ships, Palpatine ordered only the Imperial starfighters to engage,[1] with Mianda flying against the Alliance in a TIE/ln space superiority starfighter.[2] After they disabled the Death Star's shields, the Alliance claimed victory in the battle by destroying the Death Star.[1]

Personality and traits[]

Mianda had black hair and light skin.[1]

Equipment[]

Mianda wore a black Imperial officer's uniform with an Imperial kepi that bore an officer's disk.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Mianda first appeared in the original trilogy film Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi,[1] which was released on March 25, 1983.[4] In the current Star Wars canon, Mianda's name was first used on a card in the 2024 Battle Over Endor Scenario Pack set for Atomic Mass Games' Star Wars: X-Wing Second Edition board game.[2] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Mianda was first identified in Legends in 2000 on a card in the "Death Star II Limited" set for the Star Wars Customizable Card Game published by Decipher, Inc.[5]

Footage of Vader's arrival on the second Death Star was reused for the Sith Lord's return to the Executor from Bespin in the Special Edition release of The Empire Strikes Back. As such, Mianda's actor is seen in the Special Edition version alongside other extras who portrayed Imperial officers in Return of the Jedi,[6] however, this article assumes these to be separate characters.
