Mijos was a swampy world in the Anoat sector of the Outer Rim Territories and a stopover point for travel between the planets Lutrillia and Gerrenthum on the Lutrillian Cross hyperlane. A number of Lutrillian-run spaceports could be found on Mijos, but poor structural planning had caused many of these settlements to sink into the planet's muck.

Description[]

The swampy planet Mijos was located in the Mijos system of the Anoat sector, within the Greater Javin region[1] and Western Reaches portion[2] of the Outer Rim Territories. It was positioned between the fragmented portions of the Kiax Nebula on the border of the Yarith sector.[1]

Mijos sat at the intersection of two hyperlanes, the Lutrillian Cross and "The Loop." The former split the Kiax to connect Mijos with the planet Lutrillia as well as the megaworld Gerrenthum, the capital of the Anoat sector; the latter circled the Kiax to link Mijos with the planet Shuldene en route to the Mid Rim.[1]

History[]

The Galactic Republic's expansion into the Greater Javin a millennium before the Galactic Civil War initially met the challenge of the region's Twin Nebulae, Kiax and Ivax. Mijos and other planets lay barricaded among these vast gas clouds, where hyperspace explorers, hungry to open the region to greater trade opportunities, could not efficiently reach.[1]

After centuries of failed attempts by his predecessors, the entrepreneur Ecclessis Figg finally succeeded in blazing hyperlanes straight through the Kiax Nebula to reach these formerly inaccessible worlds. In particular, the new Lutrillian Cross allowed travelers on the Corellian Trade Spine to access the Lutrillian homeworld of Lutrillia by way of Mijos. With Figg's success, the Greater Javin exploded into an economic powerhouse. Originally part of the Republic's Javin sector, Mijos was reorganized into the new Anoat sector[1] circa 400 BBY.[3]

Locations[]

Mijos featured a number of Lutrillian-operated spaceports. However, many of the settlements sank into the planet's swampy muck due to poor structural planning.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Mijos was created for "Galactic Gazetteer: Hoth and the Greater Javin," a 2004 online supplement for Wizards of the Coast's Star Wars Roleplaying Game.[1]
