Characteristics[]
Commonly used in blast-proof vests, armor, and techstaffs, molytex was notable for creating laminanium by alternating layers of molytex and quantum fiber. This same alternating method of layering molytex and quantum fiber could also be used to make flexible and lightweight molytex armor, such as armored jumpsuits which used molytex liners, and was distinct from laminanium.[2]
Molytex armor granted the same impenetrability and durability as laminanium, but not the self-regenerating properties.[3] The material was capable of withstanding considerable kinetic force, and even thud bug impacts were reduced to a flinch and deep bruising as opposed to broken bones and lacerations.[4] Likewise, molytex liner could withstand tremendous amounts of heat, being capable of reducing the damage of a magma pebble to thumb sized divots rather than gaping holes, and were also highly resistant to laceration, being able to shrug off voxyn claws as well as that of razor bugs with small rips and tears, though it could be be cleanly punctured by amphistaffs.[5]
