The MC80 evacuation cruiser, or MC80 evacuation carrier, was a modified version of the MC80 Star Cruiser that was designed for carrying civilians during a mass evacuation.

Modified from civilian and military MC80 Star Cruisers, each evacuation cruiser was capable of safely carrying 75,000 people, though its capacity could be doubled at great risk, in addition to 16,000 tons of cargo. All the weapons systems and shield generators were removed, making room for added life-support systems. The hyperdrives on these vessels were also reduced to Class 4 with a Class 14 backup, and allowed the cruisers to make only a few short jumps.[1]
History[]
In 10 ABY,[2] Mon Calamari technicians converted MC80 Star Cruisers into evacuation transports at a rate exceeding one-per-day to escape the Imperial attack on their planet spearheaded by the destructive World Devastators. Though the evacuation was ultimately unnecessary,[1] many of the planet's inhabitants boarded the cruisers and fled from the battle.[3]
