"If we just had more soldiers of your skill and determination, the Alliance would already have freed the galaxy."
―Nitra Vendallan, to a spacer[1]

Nitra Vendallan was a Human female captain of the Rebel Alliance who operated out of the town of Anchorhead on Tatooine during the time of the Galactic Civil War.

Biography[]

"C'mon, I'm aging rapidly here. Decision?"
―Nitra Vendallan, to a spacer[1]

In 1 ABY,[2] Captain Nitra Vendallan of the Rebel Alliance was stationed in Anchorhead on Tatooine and worked from the local tavern. While there, she learned of an Imperial Army non-com named Drenn Biktor who wished to defect to the Alliance. He knew a great deal about Imperial Outer Rim supply routes, which could be useful for the Rebels in interdicting their shipments. Eager to bring Biktor safely to Anchorhead before he could be found by the Empire, Vendallan asked a Rebel spacer to escort him.[1]

The spacer succeeded in finding Biktor and bringing him back safely to Anchorhead. After returning Biktor, Vendallan made arrangements to get him offworld. However, Vendallan's work did not end there. A friend of hers, named Vil Sembian, son of a famous, deceased weaponsmith named Daw Sembian, possessed a schematic for a new type of blaster. Vil was bringing the schematic to Vendallan, but the Empire was on his tail. Vendallan's commander claimed that the weapon could tip the scales in their favor, so she tasked the same spacer who had helped her earlier with finding and escorting Vil Sembian safely. The Rebel spacer agreed, and succeeded in the mission. Vendallan was pleased, and stated that she would send the schematics to Alliance High Command.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Nitra Vendallan was a Non-Player Character (NPC) in the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[3] Players who performed a series of quests for Vendallan in Anchorhead had to hunt down and escort Drenn Biktor and Vil Sembian back to town. Although the player could choose not to do Nitra Vendallan's quests, this article assumes 100% game completion.[1]

  2. According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
