Nox was a manufacturing planet that was located within the Tython system of the galaxy's Deep Core region. The planet was colonized by the non–Force-sensitive settlers of the planet of Tython more than thirty-four thousand years before the Battle of Yavin. By 25,793 BBY, Nox had become a world dedicated to manufacturing goods whose production was hazardous to the environment, and the planet was polluted to such a level that its inhabitants had to live in domed cities. In 25,793 BBY, the exiled Je'daii Daegen Lok planned to supply the Force Hound Xesh with the forge factories of Nox in order for Xesh to construct a Forcesaber weapon for Lok.

Nox was a planet with no moons that was located within the Tython system of the galaxy's Deep Core region, at galactic coordinates L-10. The world occupied the third orbital position around its sun Tythos, and it was polluted to such a level that its inhabitants had to live in domed cities that were supplied with filtered air.

When the non–Force-sensitive settlers of Tython—the fifth planet of the Tython system— traveled to its neighboring worlds more than a millennium after the year 36,453 BBY, they colonized Nox. Nox was a verdant world and it had supported vast forests and complex ecosystems. But settlers had quickly made use of its rich metal deposits and endless wood supplies to build giant smelting plants, extracting 90 percent of the metals used across the system. Over the space of a thousand years, most of the forests had vanished into ash, and with them the creatures they had supported. It had been a merciless despoliation of the planet, but at the time the system had been a new, mysterious frontier, and those brought there by the Tho Yor were desperate to make a home for themselves.

By 25,793 BBY, Nox had become a manufacturing world, with nearly ninety domed cities established on the planet dedicated to the production and refinement of ore. On Nox, products were made whose manufacture was hazardous to the environment, one such product being the CRSF27 space freighter built by Craedos Shipyards.

When the Despot War began in earnest across the Tython system, some of the manufacturing cities threw their production power behind the Despot Queen Hadiya, while others supported the Je'daii. The divisions between these cities ran deep, even in the wake of war as multiple domes had been shelled into complete destruction by both sides. Greenwood Station was the greatest hater of the Je'daii, as the three closest cities to it had all been destroyed by the Order's bombers.

In 25,793 BBY, the exiled Human Je'daii Daegen Lok planned to supply the Human Force Hound Xesh with the forge factories of Nox in order for Xesh to construct a Forcesaber weapon for Lok. During their hunt for Lok and Xesh, the Je'daii team led by the Twi'lek Ranger Hawk Ryo decided to travel to Nox in order to capture the fugitives.

Behind the scenes

Nox was first pictured in the entry for Tython in The Holonet feature of the official website for Star Wars: The Old Republic—a 2011 massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by BioWare. The planet was depicted in a schematic of the Tython system. Since its establishment in 2008, The Old Republic's website has gone through a number of changes, resulting in the removal of some of the features and images that were originally located there, including the aforementioned schematic. Nox's name and additional information on it were provided in Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi 0, a preview issue of the Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi series of comic books. The issue was published on February 1, 2012, and was written by John Ostrander and penciled by Jan Duursema. The manufacturing planet was also mentioned in the first, the sixth and the seventh issue of the series—published on February 15, November 28 and December 19 of the same year, respectively.
