The Peremptory was an Imperial I-class Star Destroyer that served in the Imperial Navy during the Galactic Civil War.
History[]
In 8.5 ABY the vessel saw action at the Battle of Storinal, where it captured the New Republic Star Destroyer Rebel Dream.
In 9 ABY, upon hearing that New Republic forces had arrived at the site of the Katana fleet, Grand Admiral Thrawn dispatched the Peremptory to assist the Imperial Star Destroyer Judicator in completing the capture of the few remaining Katana fleet Dreadnaughts. Under Thrawn's command, Imperial forces had already captured most of the legendary fleet's derelict warships for the Empire.
During this Battle for the Katana fleet, the Peremptory was destroyed after New Republic agents, most notably Han Solo and Luke Skywalker, deliberately rammed a slave-rigged Katana fleet Dreadnaught into the vessel. Despite attempts by the ship's captain to take evasive action in order to avoid a collision, the Star Destroyer's bridge superstructure was rammed after its deflector shields had been considerably weakened as a result of an ion cannon barrage executed by General Garm Bel Iblis' warships. The Peremptory was lost with all hands.
Later, Captain Brandei of the Imperial Star Destroyer Judicator vowed to himself that he would avenge the loss of the Peremptory. Brandei was personally rebuked by Grand Admiral Thrawn, who reminded the senior officer that New Republic forces would eventually face the consequences for their destruction of the Peremptory, and it was not his responsibility to enact personal revenge.
