"I've arranged for you to go help a local farmer named Pol Handerin. He's having some trouble on his farm."
Lieutenant Jasper, to a spacer[1]

Pol Handerin was a Human male farmer who lived on the planet Corellia during the time of the Galactic Civil War.

Biography[]

"Oh, hello. You must be the one Lt. Jasper was saying would come to help me. Boy, I sure hope you're able to. My farm is really beginning to suffer."
―Pol Handerin, to a spacer[1]

Pol Handerin lived in a farm on the outskirts of Coronet City during the Galactic Civil War. After the Battle of Yavin, the farmer got into serious trouble because of wild creatures and bandits that plagued his farm. Handerin thus went to seek help from the Corellian Security Force.[1] In 1 ABY,[2] CorSec Lieutenant Mack Jasper dispatched a recruit to help the farmer. Pol Handerin first tasked the CorSec agent to hunt and eliminate a pack of enraged carrion spats that did a lot of damage. The CorSec agent succeed and even killed the pack leader Gravefeather. Handerin then asked the CorSec agent to deal with a group of criminals, the Nedgarr Bandits, who damaged crops and stole grain. The mission was once again successful. The CorSec agent managed to recover the stolen grain and eliminate several bandits, including their leader Trae Nedgarr, during an assault on the Nedgarr Bandits Hideout. Handerin was really thankful for the help he received and that solved all his problems. When the CorSec agent mentioned his will to work for the government, Pol Handerin eagerly proposed to introduce the CorSec agent to his cousin, Gallura Handerin, a government aide in the Coronet Capitol.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Pol Handerin was a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[3]

Pol Handerin was added to the game with the expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Trials of Obi-Wan, released on November 1, 2005. He was part of questline that featured the Rogue CorSec plot against the Diktat.[4] This story arc was later slightly revamped with the release of the "Publish 27", on February 15, 2006,[5] as the questline was integrated into the "Legacy Quest," the main questline in the game.[1]

  2. According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
