"My buddy Raine is right over there. He's a decent trader and I'm sure that he'd be willing to give you some materials, if you show him your technique."
Han Solo, to a spacer[1]

Raine Taske was a male Human trader and artisan who lived during the Galactic Civil War.

Biography[]

"I would like to learn more from you, if you are willing."
―Raine Taske, to a spacer[2]

After the Battle of Yavin, Raine Taske resided on board Tansarii Point Station, in the Bright Jewel system.[1] He often worked with the Bith vendor Jesi who provided him resources to craft various kinds of items.[2][3][4]

In 1 ABY,[5] a spacer who was himself an artisan arrived on the station aboard the Millennium Falcon along with Han Solo and Chewbacca. Since Raine Taske was an old buddy of his, Solo recommended the spacer work with the trader. The spacer therefore met Raine, and both agreed with sharing their crafting skills.[1] First, Taske asked the spacer to help the bartender of the station's cantina prepare some drinks.[6] The spacer later returned to Taske, and the two traders started to work together. The spacer taught Raine Taske to craft clothing,[2] make food, namely bofa treats,[3] and produce mineral and flora survey tools.[4][7]

Behind the scenes[]

Raine Taske appeared as a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[8] Raine Taske was added to the game as part of the "New Player Tutorial,"[1] introduced with the release of the "Publish 25," a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.[9]

  5. According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
