The Sisterhood of the Beatific Countenance was a Lorrd-based religious order that was active years before 22 BBY. They were an all-female organization, with lines of scriptures tattooed on their bodies and wearing blood-red, ankle-length robes attached to screens that hid their skin and faces whenever they left the temple. The Sisterhood had one member, Seib Nod, leave several years before BBY. Nod stole several artifacts from the Sisterhood and was thinking to sell the items on Coruscant while wearing the Sisterhood's robe and mask to disguise her mercenary intentions. Archaeologist Artuo Pratuhr was interested in buying the items, although Nod robbing him ultimately resulted in her imprisonment in the CoCo Penitentiary, while Pratuhr returned the artifacts to the Sisterhood.

Description[]

SeibNob

Seib Nod, who wore the Sisterhood's outfit even after she had left the order

The Sisterhood of the Beatific Countenance was a religious order based on[1] the planet[2] Lorrd.[1] An all-female organization, the Sisterhood had lines of scriptures tattooed on their bodies. When traveling outside their temple,[2] they wore blood-red, ankle-length robes attached to unique facial screens that hid their faces.[1] The robes and masks were worn to hide their skin. The Sisterhood's name was shared with[2] the Beatific Countenance, one of two aspects of the goddess Via, worshipped by followers of Vianism.[3]

History[]

The Sisterhood was active years before 22 BBY.[4] One of the Sisterhood's members, Seib Nod, grew bored with the organization's cloistered lifestyle, so she stole several of the temple's precious artifacts and left Lorrd.[2] Years after leaving, in 22 BBY,[4] she was present on the planet Coruscant,[5] thinking about profiting by selling the Sisterhoood of the Beatific Countenance's stolen relics and still wearing her outfit from the Sisterhood to disguise her mercenary intentions. Archaeologist Artuo Pratuhr was interested in buying the items, and Nod addressed his suspicions by assuring him the Sisterhood had authorized the sale to raise desperately needed funds but wanted to keep it quiet to hide their dire situation.[2]

Ultimately, Nod chose to rob Pratuhr, although she was ultimately caught while trying to escape. Pratuhr returned the Sisterhood of the Beatific Countenance's stolen artifacts back to the organization, and Nod was imprisoned in the CoCo Penitentiary. The Sisterhood pardoned her[2] while she served a lengthy sentence.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Hyperspace member Captain Yossarian created the Sisterhood of the Beatific Countenance when he wrote Seib Nod's entry for StarWars.com's Hyperspace feature "What's The Story?,"[2] published in 2008.[6]
