A short sword was a basic sword, constructed of high-quality durasteel[source?]. Short swords were not quite as sophisticated as vibroblades, and were commonly found in less advanced areas of the galaxy. Although they were disregarded by most modern warriors, a good short sword could still be quite effective to a skilled fighter. Short swords were often used by warriors wielding two weapons since they were light and well-balanced and could be easily wielded in a warrior's off-hand.
Short swords were used as melee weapons by Krath war droids.[1]
