Trech Molock was a male Human from the planet of Corulag who served in the army of Palpatine's Galactic Empire. Having reached the rank of High General, he acted as the first Death Star's Army Operations Chief under Cassio Tagge. While his direct superior was rather circumspect, Molock was not reluctant to take major risks. Because of that, he often engaged in heated, yet private debates with Tagge. He was present in the Death Star's meeting room when Wilhuff Tarkin, Grand Moff of the Oversector Outer, announced the disbanding of the Imperial Senate.

Biography

Born to Human parents, Trech Molock hailed from Corulag, a planet located in the Core Worlds region of the galaxy. Some point after 19 BBY, he enlisted in the armed forces of Palpatine's Galactic Empire. Molock worked his way up the military career ladder, attaining the rank of High General. By 0 BBY, he had been assigned to serve as the Army Operations Chief aboard the first Death Star battlestation. As such, he was directly accountable to his fellow High General Cassio Tagge, Head of the Army Operations. The two men would often disagree on matters of military doctrine, with Molock judging his superior too conservative.

On the third month of the year, the Galactic Emperor Palpatine issued the dissolution of the Imperial Senate, the last vestige of the democratic government that had preceded the Empire. Along with other officers, Molock was attending a meeting in the the Death Star's conference room when Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin of the Oversector Outer relayed the information. Not too long afterward, the Death Star was destroyed by the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Battle of Yavin.

Personality and traits

A male Human, Molock had fair skin and wore mid-length, reddish-brown hair that fell over his neck in the back. He had a risk-taking type of personality and did not hesitate to confront his superior in stormy discussions, although only in private.

Equipment

While on duty, the general wore a light gray version of the issued Imperial military uniform, a double-breasted tunic with matching pants and black boots. On the left side of his chest, he wore a six-squared insignia plaque as a symbol of his rank.

Behind the scenes

Although he appeared in the 1977 movie Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, Molock was only identified as such in 2013 in The Death Star Coup, an article written by Jason Fry for the Special Edition 2014 of the Star Wars Insider magazine. The article, however, does not precise whether Molock died in the destruction of the Death Star over Yavin 4 or not.

He shares his surname with Sate Molock, an unused character from early drafts of Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back who ultimately became the Grand Vizier Sate Pestage. The character's given name was inspired by Chris Trevas's "Star Wars name" according to an Internet meme, which requires taking the first three letters of one's last name and the first two letters one's first name. According to the fan website Aveleyman, Molock was portrayed by Charlie Gray, an actor listed as one of the Imperial Bureaucrats in Ann Skinner's continuity notes.
