War on the Jundland Wastes

"War on the Jundland Wastes" is a comic story written by Mike W. Barr and illustrated by Bob Molesworth. It originally featured in the January 2014 first issue of Star Wars Comic magazine, and was later reprinted in the April 2014 first issue of Star Wars Magazine. The story follows Luke Skywalker, Ben Kenobi, R2-D2 and C-3PO on an adventure through Tatooine's Jundland Wastes.

Plot summary[]

At the time of the Battle of Tatooine, Luke Skywalker, Ben Kenobi, and the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO travel on Luke Skywalker's landspeeder through the Jundland Wastes, the young farmboy promises to be a good apprentice to Kenobi. They then hear a scream.

The Jedi Master orders them to investigate, even as Skywalker complains about the delay. Kenobi uses it as a first lesson, telling him that Jedi help those in trouble. They overlook a sandcrawler under attack from Tusken Raiders, and Skywalker spots Amni Ponnar, hiding behind a speeder.

Kenobi jumps from their landspeeder, igniting his lightsaber as he lands amongst the Tuskens. Skywalker then rescues Ponnar.

R2-D2 sprays oil on a Tusken, and as it spreads, Kenobi ignites it, and it spreads to the wrecked speeder. Kenobi returns to Skywalker and orders an escape.

They make it to the Ponnar homestead, and Ponnar returns to her father and recounts the encounter. Kenobi explains why the two races were fighting, over missing hubba gourds. He then enters the homestead to clean off the dust.

In there he investigates, and discovers a reflecting crystal showing the way to the hidden gourds. Ponnar gets the drop on him, but Kenobi talks him down.

As Kenobi continues to accuse him, Ponnar draws his blaster, however it is cut in half by Skywalker with his own lightsaber. Amni then tells them they are under attack.

Howevever, Kenobi uses The Force to return the gourds. Kenobi, Skywalker, and the droids then return to their journey, leaving Ponnar to the anger of his family.
