"My son Jowres and daughter Mia were attacked by those beasts outside. Both of them are sick and need medical attention!"
―Larence Zaprin, to a medic[1]

Larence Zaprin was a human male who lived on Naboo with his family at the time of the Galactic Civil War.

Biography[]

" There's a serious medical situation on Naboo. A family that is living in the relative wilderness of Naboo has been attacked by a number of feral creatures. Several of the family members need tending."
Billingsly, to a medic[1]

The Zaprin Estate on Naboo.

After the Battle of Yavin, Larence Zaprin lived in his estate in the remote wilderness of the Gallo Mountains with his wife, his daughter Mia and his son Jowres.[1]

In 1 ABY,[2] a group of sick narglatchs and motts surrounded his home. When his children Mia and Jowres left the house, they were attacked and infected with an unknown illness. Zaprin sent an urgent request for a doctor to help his sick children. A short time later, a medic sent by the 2-1B droid Billingsly reached the Zaprin estate and managed to create an anti-toxin to cure the children. Zaprin didn't have enough money to pay the medic the full amount of credits, so he gave him a field surgeon pistol to cover the remainder of the cost.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Larence Zaprin was a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[3] Larence Zaprin was added to the game upon the release of the "Publish 25", a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.[4]

Larence Zaprin could be found in a remote building in the Nabooian mountains south-east of the Lake Retreat. He was part of the quest "House Call" for players of the Medic profession.[1]

  2. According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
