Prelude
Edit
In 17 ABY, after five relatively peaceful years, Imperial systems near the Hydian Way began to suggest the cessation of hostilities. The New Republic Senate proposed Imperial officers to keep their offices in case of peace.[1]
Fearing an invasion, the Council of Moffs secretly contacted Admiral Natasi Daala, who had unified the replacement warlords and proposed a campaign against the New Republic. Despite his doubts, Pellaeon —now a Fleet Admiral— accepted this plan but by hoping to convince the Moffs to change their minds. Taking advantage of the just concluded Almanian Uprising, Pellaeon and Daala launched their offensive from different places in the galaxy.[1]
Battles
Edit
While Pellaeon had a series of victorious battles, Daala and the warlords were quickly defeated at Columus by the New Republic Fourth Fleet commanded by Garm Bel Iblis. After that Garm Bel Iblis and Admiral Ackbar launched the full New Republic Fleet against Pellaeon. The Imperial Remnant was slowly but surely pushed back.[1]

New Republic forces under Ackbar and Garm Bel Iblis blunted the Imperial attack and retaliated, reducing the Imperial Remnant's realm to a mere eight sectors. But this time the New Republic decided to not leave the initiative to the empire like the previous years. In 18 ABY, the New Republic fleet continued to keep the pressure on the Remnant, more particularly during the Corellian Crisis.[1]
Aftermath
Edit
- "It's time to send an emissary to the New Republic. To discuss the terms of our surrender."
- ―Admiral Gilad Pellaeon to Captain Ardiff
The outcome forced Pellaeon to sue for peace, eventually resulting in the Pellaeon–Gavrisom Treaty in 19 ABY.[1]
