The First Battle of Onderon was a surprise Rebel attack of an Imperial military ordnance center on Onderon in 2 ABY. It was the first major military operation of the year.

PreludeEdit

The Alliance High Command decided to attack the Imperial Army-Navy Ordnance Center of Onderon which was the most important in the sector.

Early in the morning of Kagstag, Onderon underground members sabotaged the Imperial sensor nets for 12 minutes, long enough for a Rebel strikeforce to slip into the system undetected.

The BattleEdit

Twenty minutes later, Onderon underground forces attacked and destroyed the planetary shields protecting the region of Iziz.

Within minutes, starfighters of Shandor Squadron stuck Jyrenne Base near Iziz, the site of the ordnance center. A second attack pass including all the Rebel forces allowed to destroy 67 percent of the Imperial forces in the base.

AftermathEdit

This battle was a great success for the Rebel Alliance, largely thanks to the heroic efforts of the Onderon Resistance. The destruction of the ordnance center crippled Imperial abilities to resupply its forces in the region.

The battle was one of the first direct military confrontation between Rebel and Imperial forces in the Galactic Civil War. It showed that the rebellion was now able to fight the Empire on relatively equal footing.
