In about 19 BBY, the Wyrd, a group of Tarasin witches that operated on the planet Cularin attempted to turn the ch'hala Heart Tree to the dark side of the Force, to allow them to take over the ecology of Cularin. However, they were confronted by the Jedi Master Lanius Qel-Bertuk and a group of freelance agents, who attempted to thwart the Wyrd's plans. Qel-Bertuk sacrificed himself to save the tree and he merged his spirit into the ch'hala, while the agents defeated the witches.
