Floaters was an umbrella term describing many species of animals found in the atmospheres of Bespin and Yavin Prime.

The Bespinese species were zooplankton which fed on algae. At least one species of them could also be found in the jungles of Kashyyyk. Some species resembled arthropods, while others resembled flying fish.

The twelve species of floaters native to Yavin Prime were behemoth-sized creatures, more similar to Bespin's beldons. Gas-filled beings, ten of the species were herbivores, being preyed upon by the other two species ("floater sharks" and "floater squid"), which were carnivores.
