The floonorp was type of musical wind instrument.[1] It consisted of a cylindrical body with a tube mouthpiece extending along and then above one side.[2] In the year 32 BBY,[3] a Quarren[1] musician playing as part of a band in the stands of the[2] Mos Espa Grand Arena[1] on the planet Tatooine used a metal floonorp during the[2] Boonta Eve Classic[1] podrace.[2]

Behind the scenesEdit

A floonorp first appeared as a prop in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. The prop was not named in the film,[2] but received identification in the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia, which was written by Adam Bray, Tricia Barr and Cole Horton.[1]

The name originated from the 1999 Star Wars Legends reference book Star Wars: Episode I The Visual Dictionary, which was written by David West Reynolds.[4]
