When installed in a Jedi's lightsaber, focus crystals assisted the Jedi in staying more in tune with the Force, particularly when the user exerted Force energy. The clone of Galen Marek discovered a focus crystal while on Dagobah in 1 BBY. Different crystals produced different blades, such as the Kasha crystals, which were from Cerea—the homeworld of Ki-Adi-Mundi. These crystals aided Force attunement and meditation. Other crystals from worlds other than Ilum included the following:

• Bondar crystals: Produces a weaker blade
• Solari crystals: Makes the blade wider
• Kathracite: Produces a stunning sting rather than a lethal edge
