"I'm sure that extra ten percent efficiency would have been useful at the Battle of Foerost!"
―An Imperial ensign, to Tabor Seitaron, on the Herald's upgrades[2]

Foerost was an astronomical object where the Battle of Foerost took place, an engagement that the Republic officer and later Imperial Tabor Seitaron participated in. A travel service ran between the celestial body and the planet Coruscant in 5 BBY. Later on, the Drabatan Pao carried out his first mission with the Rebel Alliance on Foerost.

History[]

Coruscants spaceport

A Coruscant spaceport (pictured) ran a service to Foerost.

By the year 14 BBY,[3] the terrestrial astronomical object[1] Foerost was the site of the Battle of Foerost, in which Tabor Seitaron, an officer of the Galactic Republic and later its successor, the Galactic Empire, served, considering his participation a triumph of his career.[2] In 5 BBY,[4] a travel service was set to run from a spaceport on[5] the planet[2] Coruscant to Foerost the day the disgraced Corporate Authority lawman Syril Karn arrived at that spaceport from[5] the planet[6] Morlana One.[5]

The Drabatan Pao carried out a demolitions job on Foerost,[1] his first known mission with the Rebel Alliance,[7] which involved taking out Foerost's communications tower[1] sometime by 1 BBY.[8] The rebel Captain Cassian Andor remembered that job shortly before the Battle of Scarif[1] that year,[8] where the captain's team carried out a similar operation. Andor thought to himself that he would ask Pao about the job before the mission began.[1] In 3 ABY,[9] Captain Seitaron was summoned aboard the[2] Imperial II-class Star Destroyer[10] Herald by Prelate Verge. Upon the captain's arrival, an Imperial ensign gave him a tour of the Star Destroyer and commented on how the Herald's ten percent increase in efficiency would have been useful at the Battle of Foerost.[2]

Locations[]

A communications tower was located on Foerost during the time of the Empire.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Foerost was introduced in the new Star Wars canon via a mention of the Battle of Foerost in the 2015 novel Battlefront: Twilight Company, written by Alexander Freed.[2] It was subsequently first described as an astronomical object in Freed's 2016 novelization of the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the planet Foerost originally appeared in the first issue of the Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi — The Sith War comic-book miniseries. The issue was written by Kevin J. Anderson, illustrated by Dario Carrasco, Jr., and published by Dark Horse Comics[11] on August 15, 1995.[12]

  3. Battlefront: Twilight Company establishes that Tabor Seitaron's active service predated the Star Destroyer design that the Herald was part of, which Star Wars: The Rebel Files established to be an Imperial II-class Star Destroyer. The Star Destroyer model appears as early as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which took place in 14 BBY according to Star Wars: Timelines, meaning the inclusion of the Imperial II-class must have been as early as that year and Seitaron must have therefore retired by then. Since the Battle of Foerost took place during Seitaron's active service, it must have also taken place by 14 BBY.
