Force storm was a dark side Force power, and one of the most powerful Force abilities yet known.

The Force storm was actually not a storm; in fact, it was the ability to create hyperspace wormholes via the dark side of the Force. A Force storm could range from the size of a small starship, like a freighter, to huge maws capable of obliterating whole starfleets. The smaller storms appeared to be more easily controlled from great distances than the larger ones. No Force users other than Darth Sidious have so far been known to have exhibited this ability.
Sidious had recorded the origin of this destructive ability in The Book of Anger. It stated that through a simple act of will he was able to generate energy storms, vastly destructive, virtually unstoppable. The Emperor also confessed that he was not able to completely control these storms after he triggered their onset.
Palpatine used this ability on Luke Skywalker, but not as an attack. From the former Imperial throneworld of Coruscant, the storm sent Luke into an Imperial dungeon ship, which then brought him to the Emperor's stronghold on Byss.
When Luke Skywalker declared his ultimate standing with the light side of the Force, an enraged Palpatine unleashed another Force storm over the Pinnacle Moon, obliterating the New Republic fleet, killing thousands. However, Palpatine was cut off from the Force by the combined power of Luke, Leia Organa Solo, and the unborn Anakin Solo. The uncontrolled Force storm destroyed the Eclipse, Palpatine's flagship, killing the Emperor once more.
