Old Republic era[1]

During the Cold War between the Republic and the Sith Empire, a jurgoran inhabited a canyon on the Deep Core world of Tython. A green-and yellow-skinned animal with beady black eyes, the jurgoran was known as the Forge Guardian by the planet's inhabitants, the Jedi Order, and it lived in a cave underneath the rock bridge that spanned the chasm.[1]

In 3,643 BBY,[2] the Guardian was disturbed from its slumber when the Padawan of Jedi Master Orgus Din opened the Forge, an ancient machine used to create lightsabers, above the beast's cave, and the angry beast attacked the young Jedi.[1] The Padawan, who had just defeated the Dark Jedi Bengel Morr and rescued Master Din,[3] was forced to kill the Guardian with the Jedi's new lightsaber in order to safely return to the Jedi Temple.[1]

Behind the scenesEdit

The Forge Guardian appears in the BioWare MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic, as part of the Jedi Knight-exclusive bonus mission "Putting Your New Weapon to Use." After assembling their lightsaber, the player must either defeat the jurgoran or bypass the enemy by quick-traveling to one of the main planetary locations or teleporting to the nearest medcenter when defeated.[1]
