Now, of these admins, few are frequently around. The ones with a slash through their name are the ones who I very rarely see. Some users, such as LtNOWIS and Breathesgelatin were around a lot before they became admins. Very few admins hace been here lately. Ataru is not on as frequently as he is used to be before he became an admin. Why are so few admins around? True, there are very few users who are on nearly everyday, but there are times when no admins are on and we have had sprees of vandalism. What if we get a major vandalism spree with no administrators around? I know these people have other lives but they seem to be on so infrequently that I wonder what's up. What happened with MarcK, for example? I'm not on but for two hours a day so for all I know they make dozens of edits from 7:00am-2:00 EST. But still, I think something should be done. Yes, I think we should possibly remove powers simply because they never use them anymore. If they never use their powers, should they retain them? We should also add a few admins if we can. At the very least, can someone try to find out what's up with these users, and why the have not been on much in a long time? Please don't bite my head off, I'm just trying to find out what's up, and I'm a little concerned with what we should do. And no, I'm not nominating myself for adminship, so don't even accuse me of starting this topic for that reason. Chack Jadson 16:34, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Hmmm.... I don't know. If they're just taking a break due to real life duties, I think it's a bit harsh to remove their admin status (then. of course, they should notify the rest of the community, I guess). Of course, if they've lost interest in Wookieepedia, there's no reason why they should remain admins, though (again, it would be a good idea to notify the community - like Sentry has done). BTW, I saw StarNeptune doing some editing the other day, so she's still here. KEJ 17:07, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
    • This might help. Havac 17:31, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
      • Thanks Havac. MarcK, one of the biggest contributors in the first few months of this site's existence, has been non-existant for the past year, and at least should be considered for removal of powers. If anyone happens to know about Aidje or any of the others, could they please post it? Thanks. Again, right now I'd like to find out what everyone else thinks. If they are taking a break due to their real life (which is fine), could they at least add a message on their page. And if they leave like Sentry, I think their powers should be removed. What will happen when he finally leaves BTW? Chack Jadson 18:49, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
        • Just because you don't see us doesn't mean we're not here. I've seen Aziz, LtNOWIS, Quentin, and Breathes around quite a bit, but I'm assuming Aziz is busy with his job (and Outsider) and LtNOWIS and Breathes are busy with school. Also note that Aziz and Quentin are both from Australia, meaning that they probably edit while you are in school/sleeping. WhiteBoy has a job, a wife and three(?) kids (which is a job in itself), and last I heard, he plays WoW in his spare time. He does drop into the IRC channel quite often and votes on community matters, though. I have no idea on Sparq, Aidje or MarcK. I'm assuming they've lost interest in the site (Although Sparq does show up every once in a while to complain about something). As for me, I work all night and sleep almost all day, which is probably why you don't see me. I mostly edit for about an hour or two after I get home, and I do my heavy editing work primarily on weekends. As for stripping people of their powers, I don't think Wikia staff will do it unless there is a damn good reason...and I don't think inactivity is a good enough reason. StarNeptuneTalk to me! 19:25, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
          • No, as I said, I've seen you around, Neptune, and I've also seen Aziz and Quentin so I don't think there's any grounds to strip you guys of your admin powers. My assumption is that most of the above "inactive" admins are busy IRL, and I think that's okay. Having spent almos 8 years in university, and now working at two universities in two different parts of the country I live in, I think I have a pretty good idea as to why the "inactive" admins are "inactive". I also think stripping them of their admin status is not the best way of rewarding them for all the hard - volunteer - work they've done. But if an admin has really lost interest in the Wook, then there's no reason for them to remain admins. Ultimately, I think it's their own choice. Did that make any sense? • So Chack, you seem to be suggesting we need more Admins to make up for ones not here. Is that it? -Fnlayson 21:12, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
  • I don't see where the idea that the vandals are some terrible threat comes from. How many articles do they actually manage to vandalize before being blocked as it is? How long does the vandalism stay up? What proportion of articles are severely vandalised at the height of a vandalism spree? With the current restrictions on what new users can do, combined with the efforts of the existing admins and the possibility of giving a few non-admin regulars rollback powers, there's no need to go into panic mode. As for stripping absent admins of their powers, we should only do that if they voluntarily step down while announcing their departure: Sentry could have done so, but since he came back to work on templates, I'm not entirely sure he intends to be permanently absent. —Silly Dan (talk) 23:40, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
    • Well, I overreacted a litte. And yes, StarNeptune, I have seen you around. As for the vandalism, I'm kind of thinking of a potential problem, but after thinking about it, it really wouldn't be as big a deal asIt made it out to be. So yes, Silly Dan, you are right. Yes, KEJ, I see your point. Being younger than most users, and all the admins, I sometimes forget the strain of life. You all have jobs, and concerns much bigger than this website. Yes, I do think we could use a few more admins, but I can only think of a few people who could run. I need a name doesn't want to be an administrator, I believe, and Jack Nebulax doesn't either (plus it probably wouldn't succeed, which I think is a mistake, but that's irrelevant now), although I know there are some other users I would support, and the community would too. What I really was trying to ask (and din't do a good job of conveying), was if anyone knew what was up with those who are infrequently on. Yes, I figured some of these users were consistently on when I was in school or just doing something else. Sorry for the commotion I caused. All the above admins are very good users. Still, does anyone know anything about MarcK? And Silly Dan, I got the impression Sentry was going to leave permanently soon, once he finished his list of things to do. • Some of us a) Live in a different timezone and b) have a full time job. Just because you don't see us, don't assume we're not here. QuentinGeorge 05:47, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
  • College. -- Riffsyphon1024 05:50, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
  • I agree, Chack, that we could use more admins. We should have at least a good handful of admins from each timezone. KEJ 07:41, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
    • I knew about a couple of you, like Azizlight lives in Australia and that you're taking classes Riff. KEJ, you are right. Once again, sorry for any trouble I caused. Chack Jadson 13:57, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
      • Not to worry. You didn't cause any trouble. You did in fact raise the important point that we need more admins. KEJ 14:53, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
  • As far as I know, I'm still here quite a bit. I had to take a short WookieeVacation earlier due to RL, but I'm back in pretty full strength. A lot of my edits are just now devoted to the Inquisitorius though. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Audience Chamber) 17:40, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
