Not a FA, GA, or CA nom, but a WPA-related deletion debate: Wookieepedia:Trash compactor/Edathan. ~ SavageBob 14:02, September 5, 2010 (UTC)

Squalris, Gados, Red Nebula speciesEdit

This one was mostly ready, so there ya go. My post-summer debut. :) ~ SavageBob 20:10, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

  • And Gados as well! ~ SavageBob 22:47, August 26, 2010 (UTC)
  • And Red Nebula species. That's my three for now. :) ~ SavageBob 01:04, August 30, 2010 (UTC)
    • FYI, since you've been gone, the 3FAN limit has been removed. Three noms might still be enough, though! --Eyrezer 09:34, August 30, 2010 (UTC)

Colonies Fail!Edit

I've just nominated Kloperian for FA status. All along, I thought it would qualify as a Colonies species, but the rug was pulled out from under my feet by the last Atlas update, which moved it to the Inner Rim. It will, however, tick off another square in our coordinate challenge.

There are also a number of other nominations up, so don't forget to check here for current noms. --Eyrezer 22:32, August 4, 2010 (UTC)

Two in a row: Shashay!Edit

Whenever I see a list of RPG books, The Abduction [of Crying Dawn Singer] is the first one. Because of the alphabetical order and so. Well, I had to read it and see what it was. It was this. Also, it's been a while since my last species with an S.--Skippy Farlstendoiro 04:26, July 14, 2010 (UTC)

From Reekeene's Roughnecks... The Anointed People!Edit

Seriously, I was not that interested in Reekeene's Roughnecks... Who am I kidding? Of course I was interested, I RPG'ed them (particularly enjoying Ixsthmus, but I couldn't GA his article). Anyway, they were only a means to reach this: A new species nomination! Enjoy! (Anyone interested in Reekeene's Roughnecks being nominated too? It's almost ready)--Skippy Farlstendoiro 17:56, July 12, 2010 (UTC)

  • From the Colonies too! I've been waiting for these guys. --Eyrezer 22:29, July 12, 2010 (UTC)

For GAN, collaborating with WP: DarkStryder --Skippy Farlstendoiro 03:52, July 1, 2010 (UTC)

My availabilityEdit

Hey, gentles. I just wanted to drop a line to the project about my availability over the (North American) summer. I'm going to be traveling and likely away from regular internet access for much of that period, so I will begin an official WookieeBreak starting tomorrow (email me if you'd like details). In the build up to my departure, I've tried to get a few articles mostly ready for nomination as soon as I return, so these are they:

In addition, I've been trying to get Jenet (S-15) into FA-able shape, but I probably won't be finished before I leave. Finally, Lamproid is on the verge of passing FA, but in the event it's still hanging around the FAN page in 24 hours' time, could I enlist our hale and hearty project members to address any last-minute objections? Thanks in advance.

Anyway, all of this is to say that you can avoid these squares if you'd like with the knowledge that there's stuff available for them, or you can go ahead and ignore my mostly-ready stuff; I'm not trying to lay claim to squares or anything, just avoid duplicate efforts. I'll try to pop in as much as I can, but in the interim, have a great June, July, and August! ~ SavageBob 16:55, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

  • I'm back! Once the jetlag wears off, I'll nominate something or another and have a look at what's currently up there. ~ SavageBob 16:57, August 25, 2010 (UTC)
    • Welcome, Bob. I didn't know you were a back. Glad to know it. --Skippy Farlstendoiro 17:04, August 25, 2010 (UTC)

Because c. 2006 I ad hoc created a Cragmoloid NPC and the players liked him. And because I liked The Yavin Vassilika. Not exactly because we had no species from a planet in this coordinates, as I had finished this one before that challenge had began; but this is a new star for the map, anyway. Skippy Farlstendoiro 06:56, June 8, 2010 (UTC)

Convention of Civilized SystemsEdit

This isn't a species article, but it's all about how the Republic defined a sentient species during the Clone Wars, so I feel it's within our scope. It's an FA nom by CC7567. ~ SavageBob 04:34, June 6, 2010 (UTC)

Based on the fact that their square on the map has only one sentient species, and this is it. ~ SavageBob 05:31, May 29, 2010 (UTC)

Not that any of us hadn't already seen the nomination . . . ~ SavageBob 05:56, May 27, 2010 (UTC)

You know how it went. I only wanted to nominate the Vor, and suddenly I'm with a Hutt's vermin pets. --Skippy Farlstendoiro 12:35, May 17, 2010 (UTC)

Nominated Lamproid finally. I need to kill a few redlinks, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to nominate it with the proviso that I'll get to those red terms as soon as I can. ~ SavageBob 07:11, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

Yinchorri: A long-term project, one of the longest articles I've ever wrote. I think everything source's been checked, every important point mentioned, feel free to correct me. Plus, I'm back from my honeymoon: Episode VI, Return of the Skippy! --Skippy Farlstendoiro 06:18, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

Trunsk and PhuiiEdit

Two Colonies species for your reviewing enjoyment. :) ~ SavageBob 15:37, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

Gormak and Voss (species)Edit

It looks like we have a new guest nom from Fodigg. --Eyrezer 03:22, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

Guest nom by NaruHina! ~ SavageBob 22:41, April 18, 2010 (UTC)

Moved this to the top because I wanted to ask for everyone's opinion on how NaruHina should treat the difference in the depictions of the species. In a nutshell, the Myneyrshi have been illustrated a certain way in the majority of sources, but they were illustrated in quite another in the comic book adaptation of The Last Command. The question is whether to treat the TLC comic's version as a variant, or to treat it as a continuity error. What do y'all think? ~ SavageBob 18:11, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
I would tend to treat the comic as in error. This is for a few reasons. Firstly, those comics have other errors. FOr instance, Ellor shown as a Sullustan instead of a Duros. Secondly, the original sources do describe them as blue, not yellow. Thirdly, the newer comics have gone for the original TLCSB style. Sorry for the delay in weighing in on this. --Eyrezer 00:59, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

Missed St. Patrick's Day with this one, but it's up at FAN. ~ SavageBob 16:14, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

Quockran is now up, with thanks to SavageBob and JMAS for providing elusive sources. --Eyrezer 09:58, April 19, 2010 (UTC)

  • Note to self: update Nazzar from p129 of the Atlas which has a battle on their homeworld. --Eyrezer 12:44, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

Well, the other day I made a deal with the devil, and my end requires me to cook up an WP:Aliens GA or two. So, I present to you the Gektls, a species which bears no similarity at all to any other species article I've ever FA'd. jSarek 06:46, April 18, 2010 (UTC)

I've done a quickie GA nom on Tren. Ho-hum. ~ SavageBob 01:50, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

Most popularEdit

Wookieepedia's most popular articles - the top ten species:

Maybe we could do some work on these articles. What think you? Not FA as such, just raise the quality. --Eyrezer 01:16, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
    • I think it might be a good idea to actually pick one of these species, set up a sub-page somewhere, and really do it right. Like Project Wormie for Luke. We could have a clearinghouse for notes, etc. Maybe not to replace the alphabet project (we should choose something simpler for that), but as a secondary project we could all pitch in on. ~ SavageBob 01:50, April 8, 2010 (UTC)
      • Hmm. I'm not 100% convinced this is a good idea... --Eyrezer 07:30, April 8, 2010 (UTC)
        • I picked Twi'lek as it is the most popular. I don't know how we want to do this, but we could nominate sections. I tend to think Bob does the best B&A sections, so I'd nominate you for that. I'd prefer to start on the S&C section... --Eyrezer 08:45, April 8, 2010 (UTC)
          • Twi'lek wouldn't have been my first choice (I've been annoyed since the WEG days of how overused they are!) but I can get on board with this. If our goal is simply to improve the article, then we can do it by section. But if we have a goal of making this an FA, we should start by simply taking notes. Perhaps set up another subpage where we can each start taking sources or appearances, going through them, taking down pertinent information, and then striking them off to avoid duplicated efforts. So, I guess it depends on the route we want to take. ~ SavageBob 15:49, April 8, 2010 (UTC)
          • I've set up a clearinghouse for our notes to help us coordinate our efforts. Perhaps we could start by hitting up all the encyclopedic sources, like UAA, AA, CSWE, NEGAS, etc. Once we've consulted all those and taken notes, we can take stock of where we're at, write up a decent article if we want, and then decide to continue with the countless other appearances and sources for the species. What do y'all think? ~ SavageBob 16:20, April 8, 2010 (UTC)
            • Good strategy. --Eyrezer 03:59, April 9, 2010 (UTC)
  • Moving this discussion to Wookieepedia talk:WookieeProject Aliens/Sentient Studies Department. We should comparmentalize this as much as possible to leave this page for announcements and whatnot. ~ SavageBob 04:35, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

Salissians, Mephitisians, Chortose and KrozurbiansEdit

Four GANs up from me. The Silassians are just a Human race though. --Eyrezer 14:20, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

Pacithhip and Yam'riiEdit

I finally cleaned this one up enough to nominated it for FA. It's been in the hopper for more than a year, I think! ~ SavageBob 06:11, April 4, 2010 (UTC)

Just nommed Jiivahar! When all the above noms and this one get through, it will complete our Alphabet Project. :) --Eyrezer 23:19, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

Frog-dog FAEdit

Ribbit. ~ SavageBob 00:48, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

Zadly, it iz not the lavizhly-dezired, zcantly-drezzed Z-zpezies you are zpeculating about, and I'm not zpeaking about Zabrak. • Ah, I remember these guys. Glad you gave them the treatment. I'll try to take a look soon. :) ~ SavageBob 00:46, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

This is the first one from me in a while, but per Eyrezer's suggestion, I've nominated Skandit to FA. ~ SavageBob 04:55, March 24, 2010 (UTC)

Just to let you know we have completed 10% of all named species!

Total named species currently on the Wook: 1294
Total articles CA/GA/FA: 132
Percentage completed: 10.2%

--Eyrezer 11:33, March 21, 2010 (UTC)

  • Awesome! Good work, us! :) ~ SavageBob 23:37, March 22, 2010 (UTC)
    • I've been thinking of tackling a species article. :P JangFett (Talk) 23:39, March 22, 2010 (UTC)
      • Please do! I'd love to see those long-jawed yokels given the proper treatment. Then perhaps you could move on to another species... ~ SavageBob 23:43, March 22, 2010 (UTC)
        • I'm currently working on the Kerkoiden article in my workbench. Once it's approved, I'll probably move onto another TCW sentient species. :) JangFett (Talk) 23:48, March 22, 2010 (UTC)

More West End Games S-pecies! I mean 6 (soon 7) Featured S-pecies and only 3 Good S-ones? Come on, I know you enjoy those RPG aliens beginning with an S, don't you? Oh, you don't? Well, bad luck, then. Skippy Farlstendoiro 08:06, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

  • Great! I'm glad to see you write another species GA, especially as you have to wait before you can nom another FAN. :( --Eyrezer 02:25, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

Completed articlesEdit

I've created a new subpage for the project: Wookieepedia:WookieeProject Aliens/Comprehensive_articles. The reason for this is that as I've looked for suitable articles of various letters to GAN, I've come across a number where there is very little info on the species, perhaps only enough for 3 or 4 sentences. While this means I could not take them to GAN, on a few I've still tried to make them as comprehensive as is possible. I generally added the Project template to the talk page and that was it. Now, I've listed them on this page. If you are ever in the same situation, and write up a species in less than 250 words, please add them here. --Eyrezer 22:22, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

  • And in other news, I've nommed Fnessian. --Eyrezer 22:22, March 10, 2010 (UTC)
    • So it turns out one of my Completed articles wasn't quite complete. I've now nommed the Arhan. --Eyrezer 05:15, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

So, I wanted to use the cool aerobat image from Ultimate Alien Anthology. Thus, I decided to expand-and-nominate Vor for that single reason. Thus, I had to re-read the Jedi Academy Trilogy, featuring Vors. As the JAT also featured Qwi Xux, an Omwati, I decided I could take notes on that too, and maybe nominate Omwati afterward{s}. To nominate Omwati, of course, I had to re-read other novels featuring Omwati, such as Darksaber (not to be confused with Foggy Nelson's newest toy). So, following the same premise, is someone interested in the Taurills? --Skippy Farlstendoiro 13:46, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Note: The following quote didn't pass the cut to start the "biology" section:

"And one day there she was, Qwi Xux, the neediest little thing in the galaxy, hanging off your arm..."
Iella Wessiri[src]

Just to point out that we have both Skippy and Bob nominated this month! Let's just hope WP:AS doesn't split the vote and let another candidate go through the middle! :P Well done, you guys. --Eyrezer 11:39, February 1, 2010 (UTC)

  • D'oh! Anyone who reads this, vote for Skippy! It kinda defeats the purpose of me nominating him if I steal some of his votes! :) ~ SavageBob 15:42, February 1, 2010 (UTC)
    • That leaves me in a conundrum. I cannot vote for myself and I would like to vote for Bob, which is quite ouroboros to me. Reminds me of the Barber paradox. Skippy Farlstendoiro 16:06, February 1, 2010 (UTC)

I'm working on Jenet in the background in case Green tentacle decides not to do any more with Jinda (species), but in the meantime, I give you pink flamingos with yellow comb-overs! ~ SavageBob 06:07, January 30, 2010 (UTC)

Just a heads up: Myneyrsh is on probation by the AgCorps. The concerns are twofold: It needs to be updated for one of the recent Legacy comic books, and it needs a BTS section. I may be able to help, but if you have the chance, please pitch in to save it. ~ SavageBob 18:29, January 18, 2010 (UTC)

  • Cannot help you here. Skippy Farlstendoiro 16:06, February 1, 2010 (UTC)
    • It should be safe for now (I hope). ~ SavageBob 04:34, February 7, 2010 (UTC)
    • The article didn't have a BTS section, and because this was not listed as a problem on the AC page, I didn't think to check for that. It has been stripped despite the update. I suppose we should add a BTS and renom it. :/ ~ SavageBob 02:21, February 21, 2010 (UTC)

Do we want to include semi-sentient species within our project? Skippy raised the question with regard to the Cliff wampa, and it equally applies to the Wampa article itself. On the one hand, I am always glad to have more completed species as part of our project, and you could argue that IU, the Ranat fall within the same category. The Wook doesn't currently have a category for semi-sentient species, so I don't know how many more we would be adding within the scope of our project. Any thoughts? --Eyrezer 03:30, January 13, 2010 (UTC)

  • I've wondered this myself. If we expanded to semi-sentient, we'd take on at least a handful of more articles, such as monnok, Gorax, barri, and the wampas. I don't have a problem with it, but we should probably go through Consensus Track if we want to lobby for semi-sentients to get the full alien template treatment (with "Society and culture" and the other categories added in. In short, I say why not? But then, we have to figure out how to treat semi-sentient species articles. ~ SavageBob 03:52, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
    • The LG already specifies that semi-sentient species are to follow the non-sentient headings, with the only real difference being that "Society and culture" is replaced with "Behaviour and intelligence". --Eyrezer 10:30, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
      • Ah, I see. I've considered asking to have "behavior" added to the "Society and culture" bit anyway; even humans in the real-world have hard-wired behaviors we experience that don't easily fit under any of the current categories. But I've got to pick my battles, and time is still scarce for me.
      • As for your original question, after I've slept on it, I'm not so sure it's a good idea. The layout guide is currently lumping semi-sentients in with non-sentients, so that would seem to make them the responsibility of some theoretical "WookieeProject Creatures" or something. Then again, we could interpret the "aliens" bit of our name to include semi-sentients, but then I feel that by that same logic we should expand it to include all non-Human, non-doid thingies in Star Wars, and that would be too broad to be tenable. So, I guess I'm changing my vote: Semi-sentients (unless there's in-universe confusion or a cover-up as with Ranats) should be out of our scope. What was your thinking on this, Ey? Other folks? ~ SavageBob 16:16, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
        • Cool, stick with the status quo, then. --Eyrezer 04:19, January 19, 2010 (UTC)
          • After all, nobody's stopping me from nominating a non-sentient alien if I want to; or even creating a WookieeProject: Creatures. Status quo's cool for me. Skippy Farlstendoiro 16:06, February 1, 2010 (UTC)

Finishing up the Alphabet ChallengeEdit

The GAs are done, and with the FAs, we lack only aliens for J, O, V, X and Z. I've got Xamster in some semblance of acceptability, and I know Eyrezer's been working on Xi Charrian. Still, had I known he was preparing that article, I might have chosen a different letter so as to not duplicate his efforts. Does anyone, therefore, want to stake a claim on J, O, V, or Z? If not, I might pick them away one-by-one, but maybe if we allocate the final few letters, we can finish this challenge! ~ SavageBob 23:01, January 12, 2010 (UTC)

  • Speaking of which, I've nominated Xamster. I'd appreciate y'all's feedback. ~ SavageBob 04:46, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
    • Vor: Let's have something for the V, and I have O and Z queued, just some final touches needed. I can't allow Bob to get all the fun. Oh, well: My only goal was to make good use of the aerobat image. --Skippy Farlstendoiro 17:28, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
      • OK, cool! So that leaves J, then. Eyrezer or someone else want that one? If not, I can throw something together, but I don't want to steal someone else's thunder. ~ SavageBob 23:10, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
      • BTW, Jinda (species) is in good shape, so let's see what Green tentacle wants to do with it. ~ SavageBob 23:24, January 13, 2010 (UTC)
        • Great work Bob and Skippy! --Eyrezer 04:29, January 14, 2010 (UTC)
          • I finally contribute, with J for Jiivahar --Eyrezer 23:19, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

This article is up for the chop at the moment. If anyone has time to have a look and fix it, that would be great. I'm super busy at the mo. --Eyrezer 10:19, December 13, 2009 (UTC)

  • Everything listed as a problem has been fixed except for better sourcing of DarkStryder info, although this was not really a problem in the first place, just something Cav wanted to improve if he got the chance. Should be safe (I hope). ~ SavageBob 04:57, January 28, 2010 (UTC)

This was a quickie I did last night. One more random Endor species down! :) ~ SavageBob 19:07, December 12, 2009 (UTC)

Since it seems I've become a guest writer for this Project by co-option, I probably ought to announce I've just been coaxed into putting Vahla up for GA. ;-) jSarek 10:26, December 4, 2009 (UTC)

  • Lol! Welcome to the team. Might I suggest you begin by expanding the intro? :P (Something of a joke, but it does need to be expanded) --Eyrezer 22:43, December 4, 2009 (UTC)
    • But I already did that! By a whole sentence! *sniff* fine. :-p jSarek 23:31, December 4, 2009 (UTC)

Icehead (again)Edit

I'm trying to bump Icehead from GA to FA. I figure we have enough I-GAs, and this one is long enough, so why not? This will help us with the FA half of the alphabet challenge, anyway. ~ SavageBob 06:35, December 2, 2009 (UTC)

So, I wanted to feature Polis Massan. Thus, I had to read The Last of the Jedi #1 to #4, featuring Polis Massans, and I found myself liking Jude Watson's prose. Wishing to read the rest of TLotJ, I looked for an excuse, some other alien species appearing in her work that I could feature. This is what I found. --Skippy Farlstendoiro 19:45, November 30, 2009 (UTC)

I've put up a couple more GANs—Lyunesi and Ragoon. We are currently on 88 completed articles, so in the final push towards 100. --Eyrezer 02:04, November 30, 2009 (UTC)

  • And now also Qiraash. Part of my "Two-GA-Alphabet-Challenge". --Eyrezer 02:32, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
    • Nice to see another cantina alien up there! I'll take a look soon. Saurin is shaping up nicely with Essential Atlas and Legacy Collection info. I've half a mind to suggest we do a project to GA or FA all the cantina species, but then, that leaves us with Wookiee, Rodian, Duro, and a host of others that would be projects in and of themselves... :) ~ SavageBob 02:39, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
      • Lol. That's the problem with all the project ideas I've thought of. They all involve dealing with huge articles or writing up species I really have no interest in! --Eyrezer 03:05, December 2, 2009 (UTC)
        • And now Vilosorian. I made a start on gathering in the sources for the Xi Charrians. To be honest, they seem pretty much synonymous with what we have at Xi Char. I'm considering a merge of the two. Any one got any thoughts? The key source for Xi Char is the NEGVV, while Labyrinth of Evil is the key one for the Xi Charrians. --Eyrezer 21:02, December 3, 2009 (UTC)
          • Interesting case. I'd say that whatever you do, the Xi Char info should definitely be mostly or entirely repeated in Xi Charrian. I had to do this with Squib/Squib Merchandising Consortium, for example. In other words, don't let the existence of Xi Char keep you from adding that same info into Xi Charrian, since it does seem pertinent to the species as a whole (even if Xi Char is some sort of different entity). ~ SavageBob 18:29, December 29, 2009 (UTC)

FAN is slow as molasses right now, but I've thrown Morseerian up there. I think I'll wait before nominating anything else until something of mine gets cleared out first. ~ SavageBob 06:47, November 21, 2009 (UTC)

A minor species from Coruscant Nights II: Street of Shadows; not a crossover, just one I felt like doing for fun. Jonjedigrandmaster (Jedi Beacon) 21:09, November 7, 2009 (UTC)

There's an off chance that they get a mention in one of the AGTTSWUs or CSWE, but I'm putting it up for now. ~ SavageBob 21:58, October 31, 2009 (UTC)

It's an alien bonanza! More flightless avians on the docket from me at FAN. ~ SavageBob 06:49, October 22, 2009 (UTC)

  • I'd enjoy doing some stats on other species characteristics. Like how many avian, how many reptilian, how many mammalian species we've written up. How many with fours arms, etc. If this is another bird for you, I've just nommed two more four-armed species. --Eyrezer 07:27, October 22, 2009 (UTC)

My first ever species nom! Jonjedigrandmaster (Jedi Beacon) 02:21, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

  • Welcome to the club! :) ~ SavageBob 04:01, October 21, 2009 (UTC)
    • I remember my first time :'-) --Eyrezer 04:40, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

When I played this scenario, I never really catched Snake-Eyes (He's my One that got away, per Galaxy Guide 1, p.22), but I enjoyed the soirée. Skippy's mini-project "the story of Snake-Eyes" is now finished (I think); Ky'lessan will be the only nom. And, thanks to Eyrezer for his support on this. Skippy Farlstendoiro 06:07, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

  • I've now got W'iiri, Ychthytonian and Nartian up - along with the planet Aaron. I'm kinda working on getting *two* of each letter for GAs and leaving the FAs to you two. :P Anyway, atm only 8 letters don't have two GAs, so we are doing well. I'm also looking ahead to when we crack the big *100*. With our current noms, we will be on 86, and I know there are a few more in the works not yet nommed, so let's keep up the awesome work! --Eyrezer 23:49, October 19, 2009 (UTC)
    • If the alphabet FAs are for Bob and me, then I request the V; I'm almost done with the Vors. --Skippy Farlstendoiro 06:18, October 20, 2009 (UTC)
      • Atlas updates have pushed Exodeenian over the 1k mark so I've nommed it. We have another "E" GA, so the Alphabet will survive. --Eyrezer 08:41, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

Airam sectorEdit

Back to the idea of writing up all the species native to a sector, the Airam sector could be a good one to start with. Savage has already taken care of the Squib and Ugor, which are the two biggest. Remaining are the Habeen, Nharwaak, and Yoberrans, along with the Airam, although from the little info that the Wook has on them, they may end up in the Undefined social group category. Either of you guys have X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter? If not, it might be slow going! --Eyrezer 05:19, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

No TIE games here, sorry. --Skippy Farlstendoiro 06:20, October 5, 2009 (UTC)
Me neither. I just read the article about the game, and it looks like it'd be doable, but it would require a lot of conjecture and "game info starts here" templates due to the setup of that game. Basically, you can play as either the Imperials or the Rebels in various missions, so it's hard to write an encyclopedia article about the events since it's unclear who won! ~ SavageBob 14:33, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

It's unfortunate that this is happening while Eyrezer and I have our activity so reduced, but Gank is under review by the AgCorps. Please pitch in to save it if you can. ~ SavageBob 03:17, October 3, 2009 (UTC)

Actually, I'm not sure why this is still on probation. It seems that Skippy already addressed the objections. Any ideas? ~ SavageBob 04:28, October 4, 2009 (UTC)
It will stay on probation until their next meeting, which is October 11. --Eyrezer 05:06, October 4, 2009 (UTC)
The article might still be on probation because Skippy addressed the objection the day after the AC Meeting. Mea culpa. --Skippy Farlstendoiro 06:18, October 5, 2009 (UTC)
Probation ended. Veredict: Keep. --Skippy Farlstendoiro 06:07, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

OK, I finally think it's ready for FA! ~ SavageBob 03:14, October 3, 2009 (UTC)

Ice DemonEdit

This will probably be my last GA nom for a while (I'm moving soon), but I've gone ahead and nominated Ice Demon to GAN. ~ SavageBob 04:49, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

New categoryEdit

Do we need a new category? I've put Karakan and Leafar in Category:Organizations and I know Bob has put some into Category:Social institutions. I only created the later category as part of some reorganizing of subcategories so it was not designed for that. I am fairly certain we will encounter more like this as we go along? Should we create a category specifically for ambiguous organization types with an appropriate caption? We already have cats for individuals of unidentified species and gender. Any ideas for the name? Category:Undefined social groups? --Eyrezer 08:07, September 7, 2009 (UTC)

This is a good idea. I don't have any problems with your proposed name, either; provided we define what we mean on the category's page, everything should work out fine. Go for it, sez I! :) ~ SavageBob 02:56, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
I've created the category and placed in it those I could remember. Add more as and when you find them. --Eyrezer 05:05, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
Cejansiji and Myomaran have been added to the category. These articles still fall within this project's scope, right? —Silly Dan (talk) 18:04, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
I'd consider these articles within our scope. We're doing articles on Human cultures, like the A'Mar, so something that could conceivably be either an alien or a Human culture would fit either way. (We could even change our name to WookieeProject Cultures, but that doesn't have the same ring to it. :) ~ SavageBob 20:31, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
What about ones that are less clearly cultures? In other words, do I add the Karakan and Leafar back into our GA portfolio? --Eyrezer 21:52, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
Hmm. That's a tough call. On the one hand, if it's not clearly an alien or a culture, our scope would seem to exclude it. On the other, if it could be an alien species, perhaps we should cover it just in case. In the end, I don't see the harm in supporting and counting such articles, provided we make it clear that it's only provisional. In other words, if a later source comes out and shows that the Leafar are, say, a corporation, we would drop them from our GA portfolio. ~ SavageBob 21:32, September 9, 2009 (UTC)

Zandor RockerEdit

And Zandor Rocker's been nominated for GA. May the canon inclusionists weep! ~ SavageBob 03:32, September 2, 2009 (UTC)

  • Always liked these guys since I "long-term borrowed" The Crystal Bridge from a friend. --Eyrezer 05:23, September 2, 2009 (UTC)
    • Well, now their enemy the Ogre is up there as well! ~ SavageBob 19:11, September 2, 2009 (UTC)

Well, I've been incredibly busy, but I've finally cobbled together another species FAN. Check it out! ~ SavageBob 03:04, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

  • Wow... Yes, I'll check both your noms and Eyrezer's as soon as I can, but gimme some time. I've been busy, you know. --Skippy Farlstendoiro 06:29, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

A few nomsEdit

I've got a few GA noms up now. Atlthough the Alphabet challenge is pretty much done for the GAs, I think I'll try and work on getting two for each letter now. Vuvrian shows our vunerability :P Anyway, I've currently got Kulless, Trailian, Porporite and Jilruan up. I had to downgrade Leafar from a species to some kind of generic organization, something I've decided to coin as Karakanitis. :D If either of you have time to look over Iridonian it might help to move that nom by DarthTom along. --Eyrezer 01:18, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Seriously, I wanted a GAN. So I took this species, a "one-day flower". Two sources, and I counted on Ultimate Alien Anthology to repeat/summarize the information in Gamer. Somehow, everything went wrong and now I have a FAN with lots of new articles to keep it and the article on the source free of redlinks. I know there's a long list of FAN's right now; but I'm not in a hurry. --Skippy Farlstendoiro 07:32, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

  • Lol, you really do have a thing about the letter "S"! Great to have another nom from you, Skippy. --Eyrezer 07:39, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
    • I guess this is not the best moment to announce that I have another S-pecies in my blaster's chamber, then.--Skippy Farlstendoiro 08:27, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
  • Cool; looks promising! I wonder if the Sauvax and Worrites are related? :) ~ SavageBob 14:46, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

The Nazzar is up for review by the AC as it lacks info from the latest KOTOR comic. Any one care to address this and keep it a GA? --Eyrezer 03:29, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

This should be taken care of now. ~ SavageBob 19:42, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

I've just nommed the A'Mar for FAN. I didn't initally set out to do this, but it just kind of happened. Ideally, I should have picked a different letter, but sometimes I guess you just have to go with it. It might be our first Human race/subspecies taken to FA. On another note, I also have the planet Generis nommed, if you care to check that one out. --Eyrezer 13:33, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

  • There are a couple of species articles I have "written up" that do not meet the 250 word threshold. Brogune and Lisst'n are examples. In these cases I add the talk page template as a kind of sign that they are complete. --Eyrezer 05:28, 13 August 2009 (UTC)
  • Viidaav (species) has been nommed. This should conclude the alphabet challenge for GAs should it get passed. Thanks to Eyrezer and co. for the CSWE and Atlas checks! ~ SavageBob 18:45, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
  • And in the Not a Species Nom department, I've nominated Murgoob for FA, so feedback is welcome! ~ SavageBob 01:22, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

Completing the Alphabet Project for FAsEdit

I think several of my recent GA noms may in fact be eligible for FA as well, but I'm still confused about the word count requirement. Can anyone elaborate on which words are counted and which aren't? If some of my noms are indeed FA-able, I could try to advance them to that stage, which would mean we would have to choose suitable GA replacements. Still, this wouldn't be as hard as starting from scratch on new FAs. We probably have other FA-able GAs to work with, too. Vuvrian, for example, could probably be made into an FA with a little work. ~ SavageBob 02:18, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Ok, to qualify as an FA, the article needs to have 1,000 words. This word count excludes all section headings, table of contents, quotes, and image captions, as well as anything in the infobox. So, for example, for Lizard Warrior, I get a word count of 1,214. Does that make sense? Send it on over to the FAN, and I'll work on getting Leafar up to speed. :P As to Vuvrian, I got the AC to review it because I think it is lacking info. With that added, it could probably be a FA, yeah. --Eyrezer 05:44, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
    • Xi'Dec and Sluissi are both over 1000 words, too. --Eyrezer 03:47, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

New project?Edit

If all our current GA noms pass, and there is no reason to think they will not, we will have achieved the Alphabet Challenge for GAs!! Great work. Of course, the FAs are not so far along, with 10 letters currently unfilled. SavageBob looks to have two of them not too far off - M and N. Given this, I am starting to look ahead to another mini-project we could aim at. One idea that interests me is to complete a letter - that is, FA/GA all named species of that letter. The most obvious option is "X". There are only 8 in total, and one is already an FA, meaning there would only be 7 left to work on. Thoughts? Alternate ideas? Other letters on the lower end of the scale are "Q" and "U", (16 and 17, with 2 and 3 already done, respectively). --Eyrezer 00:21, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

I'd like to keep up the alphabet project for FAs, definitely, though that will certainly take quite a bit longer to complete. If we want a side project, a single letter to GA or FA might work. Or we could go with a sector, trying to GA or FA every alien from that region. This would be easier to do once the Essential Atlas goes live.
Alternatively, I really like Skippy's idea about doing a big collaboration on a species that would otherwise be impossible. Something with 100s of appearances that one of us alone would be hard-pressed to do. Some examples might be Wookiee, Sullustan, Twi'lek, Jawa, Hutt, Ewok, Ithorian, etc. We could model it after Project Wormhead and work on it on the side while we do the easier goal of doing a letter or sector or something. What do y'all think? ~ SavageBob 00:45, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Well, I am already pretty close to knocking off the Atrivis sector! :P It basically just needs the Ho'Din, which I'll get to eventually. A sector focus might be fun, as it generally involves a random collection. The Hapes Cluster could be one option. I concede that going with a letter greatly reduces the choice available, which has been one thing that was enjoyable with the current aim. With regard to a big species, we could possibly even start with re-nomming Gamorrean, which was a landmark FA, but before sourcing was required. It never quite recovered from that. --Eyrezer 01:03, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Gamorrean might work. But I think I took us off topic, since I'd like to stick with the Alphabet Challenge for FAs before we move on to another major project. As for the smaller project, I'm kinda liking the idea of a sector challenge. The problem will be having to wait for the Atlas or choosing a sector that's well enough known to have fodder for us to work with. If the latter, the Atlas will likely increase the known species for us to draw from. ~ SavageBob 02:10, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
The Atlas may, but not all systems get a sector placement, so again, it may not. The Hapes Cluster gets its own page, so definitely indicated the members there. Probably not my favourite spot though. --Eyrezer 05:47, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Holy... I was, still am, too busy with several IRL things, to notice all this. I noticed that you guys got most of the fun of the Alphabet Challenge. If you try to tackle one of the "important species" collaboration, I notice that Gamorrean is in a quite advanced state, but I was considering some species that do not have scrollbars both in Appearances and in Sources; mostly Sullustan or Cerean. Also about that matter, researching for that FAN will inevitably lead to researching for each and any of its members; maybe some of them could also be nominated during the "sub-Project".

Just a heads-up if y'all haven't noticed it already, but this site makes a sector-based project a distinct possibility! ~ SavageBob 01:54, September 2, 2009 (UTC)

And…CONGRATULATIONS!!! As of Viidaav's succession to GA, we have officially completed the Alphabet Project for GAs! I think we all deserve a pat on the back for researching, writing, and reviewing the many, many new GA aliens this project required. Good job, folks! Now let's continue on with the Alphabet Project for FAs (and the SkippyProject for aliens that begin with S)! :) ~ SavageBob 15:23, September 2, 2009 (UTC)

  • Great work, team! --Eyrezer 08:23, September 7, 2009 (UTC)

Underwater DwellerEdit

Well, two of my noms got cleared, so it's time for two more. I'll figure out what to FA soon. Maybe Morseerian or Yam'rii. ~ SavageBob 06:24, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

  • Next up is Quork for GA. ~ SavageBob 01:20, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
    • SavageBob: The Quork are in the CSWE, Vol.3, page 65. Here is their entry:
"Primitive furred bipeds found on the Forest Moon of Endor. Simpler than Ewoks, the Quorks were hunter-gatherers who lived in a secluded valley amid some rocky canyons. Quorks had smelly, matted brown fur, white manes, and two small horns atop their heads. They built only simple tools, such as spears and knotted ropes."

Icehead and Quor'savEdit

I've nominated the former for GA and the latter for FA. Both fill gaps in the alphabet challenge, so here's crossing my fingers. ~ SavageBob 07:14, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

  • The Quor'sav actually resemble the Strutters... I presume you will write those guys up at some point, given your strong Ewoks run so far. :) --Eyrezer 04:26, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

A ChallengeEdit

Hi all. I have just been cleaning up our Good article page. I propose a pointless but perhaps fun challenge for our project. Have a Species GA for every letter of the alphabet! Currently, including former GAs, there are only 8 letters we are missing: D, F, I, L, O, Q, W, and Y. (Excluding former GA, we are also missing A, U, and V). I've been writing a few GAN recently, and they are not too much work, so we should be able to manage this. --Eyrezer 23:42, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

  • Lamproid and Yam'rii are probably good to go. I've never tried GA before; might be a good opportunity to do so! (What happens if I later nominated them for FA, though?) ~ SavageBob 04:10, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
    • For me GANs are only for articles 250 - 1000 words (GA rules alloow for GAs up to 3000 words), so I wouldn't send either Lamproid or Yam'rii (or Saurin for that matter) to the GAN page, but straight to the FAN. The next "challenge" may well be to have a FA for each letter, so at the mo, those ones do not count. We have to give ourselves a challenge, right? I think I'll tackle E by writing up Exodeenian. --Eyrezer 04:26, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
      • Ah, got it. So the challenge is to find an alien about which not as much is known and then write that up. I'll take a look around and see what I can pull out for the letters. Good idea; looking forward to it. :) ~ SavageBob 05:48, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
      • I'll take F. Not sure whether I'll do Filar Nitzan, Fleebog, or Fuzzum yet, but I'll do one of 'em. ~ SavageBob 05:35, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
        • Nice work on Fleebog. Just a little too short for FA :P Of course, Exodeenian won't work for me - we don't need another E. --Eyrezer 22:32, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
          • Fleebog has been nominated. ;) I'll take a look at other letters for the next one. ~ SavageBob 05:09, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
  • Exodeenian now nominated. --Eyrezer 07:32, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
  • I've tried to, but I'm too busy right now; I'll review your noms, and maybe I'll take the leftovers later, but I cannot nominate anything else right now. --Skippy Farlstendoiro 07:39, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
  • I'll tackle W next. Perhaps Wizard of the Night Spirit (cue spooky music here). ~ SavageBob 06:30, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Strike that. I'm not convinced the Wizards are a species as much as a group of similarly disfigured beings of other species. I've expanded Worrite instead. ~ SavageBob 01:02, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
  • D is for Dolandu. --Eyrezer 02:58, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
  • Just for fun, I made this subpage for the challenge. There might be a way to make it more attractive, but it will do for now. (Of the 8 additional Aurebesh letters, seven of them have species beginning with the representative letters, although they may not correspond to the sound. Only Nen (/NG/) has no species beginning with those letters, but there is an Ingoian which could substitute. We can add these extras in if we run out of things to do.) --Eyrezer 04:15, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
    • That sub-page is going to be funny, as I am apparently specializing in alien species beginning with an S (Two more S-sentients in my queue right now) ·:P --Skippy Farlstendoiro 08:55, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
      • Lol! After checking a few secondary sources, I'll nominate Oodoc for the letter Orenth (or alternatively O). --Eyrezer 10:22, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
  • I is for Icehead, or will be soon enough. I'll keep it off the subpage for now until I've expanded the article, though. ~ SavageBob 00:38, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Take a mostly complete article and complete it. Add some BtS. Suddenly you can't nominate it as a Good Article. Pity; let's try FAN again. --Skippy Farlstendoiro 09:15, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

  • Great to have another WEG nom. --Eyrezer 09:25, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Another guest nom - joint article for both my Project: DarkStryder and this fine WookieeProject! - Cavalier OneFarStar(Squadron channel) 11:49, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Another GAN. --Eyrezer 11:24, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

  • Followed by the Hig. --Eyrezer 11:01, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

A guest shot nom from me, focusing on a species barely glimpsed in Bungo n' Rusti Get Carry-Out. - Cavalier OneFarStar(Squadron channel) 18:19, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Guest noms are always welcome! --Eyrezer 00:56, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Tyluun Night-SoarerEdit

Another GAN up by me. --Eyrezer 05:15, 25 May 2009 (UTC)

Another short GAN, with only one named individual. --Eyrezer 04:37, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

I watched Watchmen... and I liked the scene with Give me back my face!... and one thing took to another... Meet the faceless faces behind the surgical masks. --Skippy Farlstendoiro 06:12, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

It's pretty short, but I was intrigued that it was only named in a Prima Games guidebook. There's only one of them, unfortunately, which obviously affects the history section, but a GAN it is. --Eyrezer 06:51, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

Yep, I nominated it. ~ SavageBob 02:03, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Just got nominated by me. ~ SavageBob 01:39, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

A new nom by Skippy Farlstendoiro. --Eyrezer 02:15, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Oops; I forgot to list that I had nominated this. It's been up for a while, and now the only real objection is that it doesn't say whether or not they appear in A Guide to the Star Wars Universe, 3rd ed. If you own the book, please check! ~ SavageBob 04:30, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

"Small, furry bipeds with tufted ears, large eyes, short muzzles, and black noses. Their fur ranges in color from deep red to brilliant blue. From the world of Skor II, these fearless nomads roam the galaxy in reclamation ships, using tractor beams to salvage junk -- which they consider treasure. The Squibs have an intense rivalry with the Ugors, as both try to claim salvage before the other. Squibs are overconfident and curious, sometimes overbearing and uppity. They love to haggle, a practice that they have turned into an art form. The more complicated and convoluted a deal a Squib can strike, the better they like it. [GG4, SH]"
―A Guide to the Star Wars Universe[src]
--Eyrezer 06:12, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
    • Great! I'll mention it at the FAN page. This nom has lasted forever! :) ~ SavageBob 12:00, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

If we're still doing this, I'll just note that Xi'Dec is now a GA. —Silly Dan (talk) 16:03, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

  • That was nice and quick through the nomming process. These guys have got me looking for unidentified alien individuals that could be retconned into Xi'Dec! --Eyrezer 18:15, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

After sitting on the shelf for a while, I finally nommed it. --Eyrezer 22:34, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Swokes SwokesEdit

I've also nominated Swokes Swokes. I figure I can handle two nominations at once, but a third would be pushing it. You can find the nomination here. Please take a look! SavageBob 12:23, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

I've nominated Lutrillian to be a Featured Article. The nomination page can be viewed here. Please take a look and leave feedback. Thanks! SavageBob 11:50, 11 November 2008 (UTC) </div></div>
