Leland Chee and Pablo Hidalgo are running a continuity Q and A at Celebration IV where they'll answer continuity related questions....should we perhaps compile a list of our pending queries?
Saturday, May 26th from 10:30am to noon
QuentinGeorge 23:00, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
- Conan Antonio Motti - Canon?
- Was Revan's amnesia caused by a mind-wipe, injury, or a combination of the two? (see discussion 1, 2)
What is the canonical name of Teneniel Djo's mother?- Are Allaya Djo and Kara'Teel the same or different people?
- I think this is a slightly better-worded question. Wildyoda 03:16, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- Are Allaya Djo and Kara'Teel the same or different people?
- Does Isolder's father have a canonical name?
- When and why exactly did Ta'a Chume abdicate?
- Is Ta'a Chume dead, or is she still lying comatose somewhere?
- Is the style for Queen Mother in the Hapan language "Chume" or "Ta'a Chume"?
- Does Isolder know the identity of Allana's father, or did Tenel Ka keep that secret even from him?
- Did Zekk have bisexual tendencies of his own accord or was his attraction to Jagged Fel merely an extension of Jaina Solo's while they were Joined? (see Talk:Zekk for more on this.)
- I reworded this- the way it was asked we STILL would have been arguing about it after getting an answer. Wildyoda 20:03, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- Having just thoroughly read The Joiner King, I can tell you that this question is answered by the book. See Talk:Zekk for more info, but this question is pointless. Atarumaster88 20:30, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- I reworded this- the way it was asked we STILL would have been arguing about it after getting an answer. Wildyoda 20:03, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- Did Revan achieve the rank of Jedi Master prior to the Jedi Civil War?
- Is Canderous's helmet really the same as that of Mandalore the Ultimate? They look different enough.
- Are Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker considered two separate individuals? Seriously? Come on now. It was in the New Essential Guide to Characters as one entry, and the only thing we'll probably get is some "deep" answer about how their personalities and psyches are not the same. Cull Tremayne 08:17, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. That question = removed. QuentinGeorge 08:20, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

- Maybe Aaron Allston would know better than Chee and Hidalgo, but is Shalla Nelprin confirmed to be in Betrayal? Atarumaster88 13:12, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- I believe Allston confirmed this already in a chat or the Jedi Council Forums. Kuralyov 22:37, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- Considering how many older ("S-canon") sources have been either referenced in newer ("C-canon") material or turfed outright as contradictory ("N-canon"), how much S-canon is actually left? Silly Dan 13:54, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- How canonical is the Battle of Wayland depicted in Empire at War? Atarumaster88 20:25, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- C-canonical. A better question would be how it's possible for the Rebels to go to the planet when they're not supposed to have discovered it until 9 ABY or whenever. -- I need a name (Complain here) 01:10, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Is Zekk canonically older than the Solo twins (as in Young Jedi Knights) or are the Solo twins older (as in Betrayal)? Atarumaster88 20:25, 21 May 2007 (UTC)- I have plenty myself, but I'm sure before we get to ask this many, they will have ejected all of the Wookieepedia people. :-P -- Ozzel 20:29, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, come on. They know exactly what they're asking for just offering to do this. Wildyoda 20:35, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- Isn't that question answered in the Zekk article? I though Allston admitted it was a goof? StarNeptuneTalk to me! 20:30, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I believe that was just a single line error in Exile (novel) . Wildyoda 20:35, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, it was Betrayal. StarNeptuneTalk to me! 20:40, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- Probably. I just didn't want them to think we were all "hApan fanboyz adn girlz" based on the first few questions. And the EaW has really bugged me. :-P Atarumaster88 20:31, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'm hoping that whoever asks the questions does mix them up a bit. Speaking of Zekk, I have a question for them! StarNeptuneTalk to me! 20:40, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I believe that was just a single line error in Exile (novel) . Wildyoda 20:35, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

- Will Zekk ever get a last name?
- Might as well ask what Winter's maiden name is too.
- Is Raynar Thul older or younger than the Solo twins?
- Are Navik and Narik the same person?
- What level of canon is T-canon? Oyam5000 03:06, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- It's T-canon. ^_^ - Sikon 05:49, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- Wouldn't T-canon created and overseen by Lucas automatically be G-canon? -- Riffsyphon1024 05:56, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- I mean if it is between G-canon and C-canon, or equal to C-canon, etc... Oyam5000 21:38, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

- I'm serious. There has been no definitive answer for this that makes any sense. -- Riffsyphon1024 05:56, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- The answer, trust me, will be "3 million" and that's as far as will be explained. Don't ask this, it doesn't solve any debates and justs gets people sniping. QuentinGeorge 06:02, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Can anyone report the answers, if any? —Silly Dan (talk) 22:24, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'm curious as well. Man, I hope someone asked about Winter's maiden name. heh. - breathesgelatinTalk 03:26, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- Apparently they were shown a Holocron entry, and Leland said something along the lines of CUSWE and the Wookiee having more info than it. Apparently entries are organized with an importnace rating of 1 to 5. I haven't heard any specific answers to qs yet. --Eyrezer 04:12, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- Whoa! Come again? Tasty admitted to us beeing more kick-ass than the Holocron itself?! Holy smokes! WE ARE THE ROXXORS!!!!! DarthMRN 23:03, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- The advantage of the Holocron is that it lists items from all kinds of sources, even future, unrevealed ones, as well as background material not open to the public. But in terms of scale, CUSWE and Wookieepedia have more entries. I think Chee mentioned about 10,000 a few years back for the Holocron, while we were at 20 or 30,000 at the time. LtNOWIS's report[]
So yeah, all those questions you guys wanted asked? Very few of them actually were. This is the first time I've seen this page, since I've been hiding from spoilers. So, here are my notes, as I wrote them down. They suck because I was in a hurry.
- Marvel is canon, but it's stylized [That's not really anything new. This was pretty much an off-hand comment anyways.]
- Lucasfilm has a publishing library
- No Sacrifice spoilers
- Get to see Holocron
- Holocron stats [I wrote them all down when they flashed on the screen, but the values are all less than the 8/24/06 values on our Holocron page. They were from 5/24/05.]
- Indycron [There's a separate one for Indiana Jones continuity, called Indycron.]
- Mentioned Wookieepedia as a great resource
- Leland checks them [I forget his exact words, but that's what I wrote down.]
- "Unofficial always gonna have more stuff" [That's clearly not a direct quote, because Leland Chee doesn't talk like that, but yeah, I put it in quotes.]
- has stuff in development [I have no idea what this means.]
- Has real timeline [???]
Q and A[]
- [Chee's] Favorite timeline – the Holocron
- Nathan Butler's mentioned [(Star Wars Timeline Gold)]
- Chee doesn't look at them. [Unofficial timelines, that is]
- Nathan Butler's mentioned [(Star Wars Timeline Gold)]
- Will there be more fact files.
- No current plans
- Rank + Insignia?
- Take cues from films [The Holocron image they pulled up basically had all the Imperial rank badges from the films and a scan of a Grand Admiral rank from the comics. They talked about how a lot of the insignia was contradictory and whatnot.]
- Any biggest problem? [Continuity problem that vexed them most, I think.]
- Chee: The Labyrinth of Evil vs. Clone Wars cartoon conflict. (I'm going to go from directly transcribing to paraphrasing now.)
- Hidalgo: How much can possibly fit between Episodes IV and V? [It can be made to fit, but it's ugly, he said.]
- Pablo had this crazy, completely non-canon theory: He was wondering how much time they spent going to Cloud City in the Millenium Falcon. Basically, since the Falcon was going so close to the speed of light, the theory of relativity would kick in and time dilation would occur. So, it would only be a few weeks for Leia and Han on the Falcon, but it would be 8 months for Luke on Dagobah. But of course that would never be canon.
- When did the galaxy at large learn that Anakin was Darth Vader, etc.?
- No answer? [That's what I wrote down; I don't recall what was said, but there wasn't a hard answer or anything.]
- 2009 hardcover?
- No answer [Sue Rostoni refused to answer; I think she said it wasn't finalized anyways.]
- Why does Insider keep switching publishers?
And, here's where I stop writing, because my class is ending and I need to shut down my computer. -LtNOWIS 13:01, 29 May 2007 (UTC)- He said that a lot of the publishers didn't realize the effort that goes into maintaining the fan club apparatus or something like that. Also, the Fan club/Hyperspace unification wasn't working, which is why it was stopped.
- I think someone asked about releasing audio books that were only out on tape on CD or something. I didn't really care.
- Someone asked what the future holds for Star Wars or something.
- Indiana Jones publishing program
- Legacy of the Force
- Stand-alone novels, e.g. Mindor
- 2 more Republic Commando novels
- Force Unleashed tie-ins
- Randy Stradley said that Dark Horse has a big secret plan for 2008 that they can't tell us.
- New webstrip that ties into Force Unleashed. (I don't remember this being said, but I wrote it down.)
- Will there be TV show tie-ins?
- Too early to say.
- Someone asked about pronounciation.
- I think they said they're starting to add audio to the Holocron in addition to phoenetic pronounications, to make it easier for the Japanese. Also, according to the Holocron, both "TWEE-lekk" and "TWIE-lekk" are canon.
- Someone asked about Glove of Darth Vader
- No definitive answer
- Is Conan Antonio Motti canon.
- "It'll be revealed eventually."
- Will they cover the Ackbar versus Pellaeon battle that was in the Essential Chronology? (The Battle of Anx Minor)
- It doesn't seem likely, but than neither did Mindor.
- How do major continuity decisions like marriages or deaths get decided?
- Conferences with all the authors (on a project like NJO, I think), than send it around to other creators, than send it up to George. Or something like that. I think they mentioned planning to kill off Kyle Katarn in NJO, but than LucasArts said they were doing Jedi Outcast.
- Someone asked about continuity in Red Sky, Blue Flame, and how it might be easier to just rewrite it.
- Pablo said that he didn't want to do that, as it would be a slippery slope.
- Could there be a limited holocron for fans?
- No.
- 3 people got Sacrifice for free.
- More Harry Potter style titles like Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor?
- None planned, but it does make it easier for booksellers when you mention "That new Yoda book" and Yoda's in the title, or whatever.
- How come there are no births in 0 BBY/ABY?
- Too busy fighting.
- It would be too easy to figure out ages. (Yeah, they were joking.)
- More WTS or other fan-influenced continuity?
- Possible
- WTS is getting monthlier. I forget whether it was here or elsewhere, but Pablo Hidalgo mentioned that the WTS process was kind of unwieldly and he'd like to make it more dynamic and better.
- Could there be a soundtrack anthology for the prequels like there was for the prequels?
- It's not really the right panel for that.
- More Scholastic books?
- It's in negotiation.
- Most likely a new series rather than more Last of the Jedi.
- There's gonna be a Vader book by Ryder Windham. Apparantly, it will have some EU content.
- Will they make unabriged versions of previously abriged EU audio books?
- They don't like doing things they've already done in the past, but current audio books are less abriged than before.
- Will there be a 3rd ILM book?
- It's in negotiations, it probably won't be for a few years.
- There might be an expanded reissue of the Making of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
- Will Boba Fett continue his book adventures in the Live Action series.
- They don't know anything about TV.
- What's up with that significance field on the Holocron? (It's a little number next to the canon level.)
- More will be posted later.-LtNOWIS 22:50, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- Will there be more EU content in Insider?
- They were gonna meet with the Insider people like 15 minutes after the panel about that; hopefully yes.
- I think Pablo said something about how we can't judge the Titan Insiders yet since they're just getting started, and it's really hard to put out a first issue.
- So, the periodic table question got asked.
- There isn't a periodic table.
- I think Sue Rostoni or someone said that rigid frameworks and such are bad for storytelling; not really new information but mentioning again didn't hurt.
- Will there be a gay relationship? (said in a more diplomatic way)
- There already is, you just need to find them.
- How complete is the Holocron?
- Pretty comprehensive.
- No entry for every single character
- Stats are there. (Not sure if they meant gameplay stats or like height and such.)
- A question about making it easier for more people to contribute to the EU or something.
- Sue thought about having a thing where famous authors come and write short Star Wars stories or something, but it would have to be Infinities, and that would be less good or something.
- Since they've got awards for dramatic EU fanfilms now, that is a good avenue for telling Star Wars stories.
- Where is a good place for Star Wars fans to give feedback about stuff? (Or something like that)
- Starwars.com or the official blogs.
- A question about how well games and comics interact in continuity, or how much game stuff they like having in books?
- The Force Unleashed.
- LucasArts has more EU stuff in its games now, like in Empire at War.
- Actually, my notes indicate that this is where they said they thought about killing Kyle Katarn. My memory is clearly not perfect.
- The KOTOR comics are of course a huge game-comic intersection.
- Someone asked about cortosis and how sometimes it shuts off lightsabers and sometimes it just doesn't get cut.
- The answer is basically the difference between cortosis vs. cortosis alloy
- It's basically just a plot device to let people be able to go up against lightsabers.
- Same with phrik and Mandalorian iron.
- How far was the Plagueis novel when it was cancelled.
- Fairly rough.
- Question I skipped.
- More Darth novels like Darth Bane, Darth Plagueis?
- Not planned.
- Are there going to be any more things between KOTOR and the movies?
- No.
Closing comments[]
- Plagueis as a Muun is from George and is thus still canon.
- There's going to be a picture of him in Jedi vs. Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force, but it's not going to reveal everything.
- Randy Stradley talked about the whole Darklighter TIE helmet thing again.
- Sue appreciates the enthusiasm of fans.
- Chee likes things that fit together. -LtNOWIS 01:55, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Afterthoughts[]
Very good compliation of our notes, Simon. And yes I did ask the element question to the panel as a hyperinclusionist geek. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:53, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
- A rather lazy answer given though... --Eyrezer 04:13, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- It seemed that way with alot of my extremely technical questions. Are we more advanced than even the upper-level people of Lucasfilm? -- Riffsyphon1024 04:33, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yup. We are the best! :D Evir Daal 07:06, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- We're not more advanced, just less versed in the genuine needs of a storytelling rather than fannish obsession with completeness. It's not lazy when there's no point in tying authors' hands, especially since they'll just go outside the framework anyway and destroy any structure you try to create. jSarek 08:13, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- It becomes a fine balance between storytelling and technicality. Sorry I have to favor the latter. -- Riffsyphon1024 09:10, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- It seemed that way with alot of my extremely technical questions. Are we more advanced than even the upper-level people of Lucasfilm? -- Riffsyphon1024 04:33, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- I should add that I also was the one to ask about Conan Antonio Motti, to which we got the response presented here. -- Riffsyphon1024 22:34, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
