The result of the debate was change the Manual of Style to decapitalize "sector" in sector names except where dictated by canon. - Lord Hydronium 07:22, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Our MOS says we should always capitalize "Sector" in sector names. Canon disagrees:
- Outbound Flight (page numbers from the hardcover): "Marcol sector" (38); "Droma sector", "Haldeen sector", "Albanin sector" (195)
- Boba Fett: A Practical Man: "Mandalore sector" (25)
- The Kathol Outback: "Kathol sector" (3)
- Senator Moe Killed in Blast — HoloNet News Vol. 531 #50 (content now obsolete; backup link): "Atrivis sector"
- Agents of Chaos I: Hero's Trial: "Meridian sector" (68)
- The New Essential Chronology: "Kanz sector" (25)
- Coruscant and the Core Worlds: "Corellian sector" (69)
- Sacrifice: "Corellian and Bothan sectors" (278)
- Legacy of the Force: Inferno: "Kanz sector" again (65)
- Star Wars Encyclopedia: Consistently uncapitalized
Corporate Sector is the only one I can think of that is consistently capitalized. So I propose that except where canon dictates otherwise (like Corporate Sector), we change the MOS and make "sector" lowercase in all sector names.
Always use lowercase unless dictated by canon

Comments
- Long-standing precedent in FA and otherwise is to use the lowercase. Graestan(Talk) 01:25, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- Does anyone remember why the "capitalize" rule was made in the first place? —Silly Dan (talk) 14:33, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
