The result of the debate was adopt colon usage in comic titles per Dark Horse's formatting. Grunny (talk) 09:43, April 20, 2010 (UTC)
The following proposal pertains only to colon usage for the "Star Wars" portion of titles for comic series published by Dark Horse Comics. This Consensus track has no implications outside of that very narrow area, and does not serve to set a precedent for future Consensus tracks concerning article titles. Now, let's get down to business.
We currently format these titles as as such:
- Star Wars Empire 8: Darklighter, Part 1
Dark Horse's website formats them like this:
- Star Wars: Empire #8: Darklighter (part 1 of 4)
There's a couple of differences, as you can see. My proposal is that we change our colon usage to match Dark Horse's, but nothing else. Under this system, the relevant articles would be formated like this:
Note that instances where the publisher does not use a colon (such as Star Wars Tales) would remain unaffected.
The current standard where we do not use a colon after Star Wars is due to the fact that when these articles were made, the namespace of this wiki was "Star Wars". This created all sorts of problems, and in this case caused us to drop the colon. I am sure there's an argument to be made for further refining our naming policies, but I will have none of it in this Consensus track.
Simply put: shall we put this artifact of a five-year-old bug behind us and comply with the publisher's own usage? --Imperialles 21:47, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

Discussion
- At the risk of going off on an unwanted extraneous discussion, I feel this needs to be pointed out. The logic behind this CT measure is "do it the way Dark Horse, the publisher, does it," which I agree with. But if you're going to look at standardizing one area of the comic name (colons), you must also consider the other parts of the name. Specifically, how we include "Star Wars" in some comic names (see Star Wars: Empire or Star Wars: Chewbacca) but not in others (see Dark Empire.) By the logic of this CT, we should include "Star Wars" in the Dark Empire comic series name because that's how Dark Horse does it. What is the difference between "Star Wars: Empire" and "Dark Empire" that we include "Star Wars" in one but not the other? Toprawa and Ralltiir 22:10, April 12, 2010 (UTC)
- One thing to keep in mind is that most of these articles were created at the very beginning of the wiki, with very little active administration (the admins were happy to be getting content and didn't mind too much how it was formatted) and close to zero policies in place. Unless Dark Horse also excludes Star Wars from the title(s), I am fairly certain the cause of the discrepancy is a simple error. --Imperialles 22:16, April 12, 2010 (UTC)
- Very true. My understanding, correct or not, is that there exists some discrepancy among the userbase over when and when not to use "Star Wars" in the name. And I think this CT's logic should be applied to that debate as well, if it even exists. But that should be reserved for another forum. Toprawa and Ralltiir 22:22, April 12, 2010 (UTC)
