As the name of the wiki has been changed from "Star Wars Wiki" to "Wookieepedia", a need arose for a new logo. Dark Spork has proposed two logos with the word "Wookieepedia".

  • Comment: If we do go with a revised Death Star II, I think that the equatorial trench should be horizontal, parallel to the text. jSarek 12:50, 13 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    • I think is ok now, Death Star II has a shape that already breaks symmetry. --Thinortolan 13:07, 13 Dec 2005 (UTC)
      • I agree with jSarek. It looks a little off at the minute. Tam 14:21, 13 Dec 2005 (UTC)
        • However it does wonderfully constrast Wikipedia's pieced-together ball. -- Riffsyphon1024 05:51, 14 Dec 2005 (UTC)
          • The thing is, the place where the pieces are missing from are nowhere near where they're missing from the Death Star. It would be better to have the trench be horizontal; otherwise, it doesn't look quite right. jSarek 22:39, 15 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    • If this becomes the new logo, that trench is going to drive me nuts every time I look at it. It really should be exactly horizontal. —Darth Culator (talk) 22:53, 15 Dec 2005 (UTC)
      • I haven't changed the angle because it gives a bit of looseness to the image as a whole - keeps it from looking too much like a blueprint. Plus, check out the stills on the Death Star II page. -Dark Spork
  • As for the wookiees logo, I would say that using together a wookiee-like name and a wookiee image sugests too much a wookiee theme instead a global Star Wars theme. --Thinortolan 13:07, 13 Dec 2005 (UTC)
  • What about Chewie's face plastered on the side of the Death Star? :P -- Riffsyphon1024 05:49, 14 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    • Okay! Yes, it's a two year old teen soap reference. I'm just that easily amused.--Dark Spork 06:03, 14 Dec 2005 (UTC)
      • Hahah, that's great. And since we know it won't be the main logo, maybe we can keep it for a future humor section. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:16, 14 Dec 2005 (UTC)
  • I still like the older DSII one better. "The" and "Wiki" are impossible to read on the new one. CooperTFN 07:32, 14 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    • I like the new version of it, but only if the font size of "the" and "wiki" are increased. Adamwankenobi 13:43, 14 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    • Yes, try that. -- Riffsyphon1024 01:19, 15 Dec 2005 (UTC)
      • It's starting to grow on me, actually. I'll play with it a bit later tonight. Dark Spork 19:39, 14 Dec 2005 (UTC)

I would like to see more submissions before we make a choice. --SparqMan 05:42, 15 Dec 2005 (UTC)

  • I agree. I'd like to see what Jena can pull off this weekend and submit that on her behalf. Then the battle can begin. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:15, 15 Dec 2005 (UTC)
  • I might do few more, too. I've got a few ideas left. --Dark Spork

I think more than three would be good. Perhaps we can accept a quick update to the current one, but I don't think we should accept a new logo without seeing at least ten different options, rather than variations on a theme. --SparqMan 07:29, 15 Dec 2005 (UTC)

  • While I'm loathe to prompt yet more fidgeting, one thing just occurred to me about the latest logo: all bits on the right have been removed, as they should be, but there's a big empty chunk on the bottom left, as well (right above the W), and that's been left black. Wouldn't it be more consistent to take out the black everywhere it's present? CooperTFN 00:49, 17 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    • The original image I'm working from, while large, is a bit fuzzy, so it's quite possible I missed something - take a look at the larger, untexted version linked on my talk page to pinpoint stuff like that - or find me a clearer screencap for comparison purposes. I don't want to take out too much black, though - it would just look weird. Dark Spork 01:34, 17 Dec 2005 (UTC)
      • Hmm...looking at the bigger one, I guess it's good like this. All the missing areas on the left look fairly shallow, and wouldn't extend all the way through. CooperTFN 19:27, 17 Dec 2005 (UTC)

Any updates? Submissions from Jena, for instance, or anything else that will get this track moving again? jSarek 09:37, 29 Dec 2005 (UTC)

  • Seems to me this is as much of a consensus as we could possibly need. CooperTFN 08:07, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)
  • Now the question is who has the power to change the logo? Angela? WhiteBoy? --MarcK [talk] 08:16, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)
  • We need more time and logos to choose from and my friend will come through. You can understand when its the holidays and she's busy with everything else. -- Riffsyphon1024 09:20, 30 Dec 2005 (UTC)
    • That final design is fantastic. When will we be able to change this? General Kenobi 02:40, 3 Jan 2006 (UTC)
