Following on from Forum:Planet article guidelines, it would be useful to have similar guidelines for as many types of article as possible. So I've made an attempt at doing one for character articles based on what we look for in FAs. Any suggestions would be appreciated before we vote on it. And as Imp pointed out, we should technically have had a vote on the species guidelines before it became official, so we might as well get that out of the way first.

There are some guidelines for the organization of species articles within Wookieepedia. Ideally, they are organized into four main sections:
Biology and appearance deals with the physical characteristics of the species. This includes descriptions of both their physical, instinctual and mental abilities, with particular emphasis on unique factors.
History deals with the major events in the history of the species. This includes such events as wars, discovery by the galactic community, and other important epochs.
Society and culture deals with the sociological organization of the species, including such features as language, temperament, and family and societal structures.
[Species] in the galaxy provides an overview of the species involvement in the galactic community with particular emphasis on species trends and notable individuals. Depending on the available information, this section in particular may be incorporated into the earlier sections.
Each of these four sections may be further subdivided as appropriate.
There are some guidelines for the organization of character articles within Wookieepedia. Though there is some flexibility, the following sections are typical:
Biography provides an account of the notable events in the character's life. The level of detail in this section is up to the individual author. However, a middle ground between succinct and lengthy is generally preferable. It is generally expected that this section will be divided into subsections on lengthy articles, though the appropriate sectioning of this is left to the author.
Personality and traits describes personality traits evident in the source material and how these influence the character's behavior. Examples should be given where possible.
Powers and abilities is intended to show any notable abilities possessed by the character. This should generally be used with Force-sensitive characters and can include any Force powers for which the character demonstrates an aptitude.
Equipment can be used to give a brief description of any notable ships, weapons, or other equipment associated with the character.
Each of these sections may be further subdivided as appropriate.
As long as the guideline part does not turn into an unofficial hard policy. No point in the Personality and Abilities sections for stub and short articles where only a sentence for each could be generated. -Fnlayson 05:16, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
I agree, this should not become an unofficial hard policy. But, as a guideline, which I think is what this is meant to be, it's perfect. --Jedimca0(Do or Do Not, There is No Try) 12:35, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
I definitely agree that an equipment section is to be recommended where appropriate. --Eyrezer 12:14, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I've added the equipment section. Any more comments before I take this to a vote? Green Tentacle(Talk) 18:43, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
"Powers" isn't appropriate for all characters. Maybe "skills and abilities"? —Silly Dan(talk) 14:35, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Non Force-skilled characters have generally been given "Talents and abilities" or "Skills and abilities" sections (Ref. Ysanne Isard, Gaeriel Captison.) We should standardize those, but I think it just needs a little tweaking. Atarumaster88(Talk page) 23:55, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, either of those would work and powers for Force-sensitives. Any preference on which before I do some rewording? Green Tentacle(Talk) 00:13, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
"Skills and abilities or Powers and abilities for Force-sensitive characters is intended to show any notable abilities possessed by the character. This section is particularly appropriate for Force-sensitive characters and can include any Force powers for which the character demonstrates an aptitude." That any better?
