The result of the debate was Vote 1: Showcase daily Main Page Good article under the FA queue, include full picture and intro and Vote 2: Showcase new GAs from Monday to Friday, and old GAs on the weekend. Toprawa and Ralltiir 20:18, March 26, 2012 (UTC)
Hey everyone,
I hope I can be forgiven for starting this new CT before the closure of the first one. Three separate CTs will be required to get this show up and running, and since the first CT seems to be a snowball, I figured it would be OK to attempt to expedite the process. If not, sorry. :/
I was hoping that this second CT would be the final one, but in order to vote on these options --- that is, themed weeks, image alignment, the idea of a float --- we'll first need consensus on the two votes here. Menkooroo 05:11, March 14, 2012 (UTC)

Where on the main page do we put our showcased daily Good article? Two options were proposed in the Senate Hall thread. Feel free to add more options.
Option 1: Put it under the FA queue, include the picture and intro. Pretty simple; put the GA under the FA.
Option 2: Replace the Random FA & GA box in the upper right corner, also include full picture and intro. This option was presented as part of our larger quest to revamp the Main Page.

- I definitely think the Random FA & GA box needs to be updated, but I think that the bottom of the Main Page is the best place for the daily Good article. There's currently a lot of blank space there that we need to fill, and the GA below the FA makes the most sense. We can vote later on things like changing the colour of the box and the alignment of the image. Menkooroo 05:11, March 14, 2012 (UTC)

Discussion
- Given that GAs are now going to be as prominent and well-promoted as FAs are on our site, should we perhaps add a link to the GA page on the navigation sidebar? We already have a link to the FA page, so the lack of a GA link is a bit odd. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 08:57, March 17, 2012 (UTC)

So, we want to give Good articles their own queue. We have over 1400 existing Good articles, and over the past year, we've been passing an average of 35.3 new ones every month. Based on discussion in the Senate Hall thread, I have four options here on how we should organize the queue. If you have other ideas, feel free to add them.
Option 1: Showcase every existing GA first. Start at the beginning of Wookieepedia:Good article nominations/History and add the 1400 existing Good articles to the queue in chronological order.
Option 2: Showcase newly-passed GAs only. With an average of over thirty GAs passing every month, keep the queue filled up with only new ones. Note that this option doesn't preclude the possibility of putting the old ones on the Main Page in some form; we could have something like a single line saying "Today's three other GAs" with links to them. Anyway, if Option 2 passes, we can figure that out in CT #3.
Option 3: Showcase new GAs from Monday to Friday, and old GAs on the weekend. This was something we cooked up in the Senate Hall thread because some thought it would be unfortunate to not give old GAs a chance to shine. Five new ones per week and two old ones.
This option also allows for the Agricorps to raise or lower the amount of new GAs being showcased per week without the need for a CT. If we hit a slump where less than 20 new GAs are passing every month, the Agricorps could do 4 new GAs and 3 old ones every week for a month in order to prevent a shrinking queue. If we hit a high and pass something like 40 - 50 new GAs every month, the Agricorps could do six or seven new GAs a week for a while so that the queue doesn't become monstrously long.
Option 4: Rotate weeks --- new GAs one week, old GAs the next. Bob suggested this idea at the end. It would see ~182 each new and old GAs showcased every year.
Option 1: Showcase every existing GA first
Option 2: Showcase newly-passed GAs only
Option 3: Showcase new GAs from Monday to Friday, and old GAs on the weekend
- Five new GAs a week, two old ones. Option 1 would give us a four-plus-year-long queue before any new GAs could be showcased, and Option 2 would give an unfortunate shaft to all of the existing GAs. But Option 3! We use the old GAs as reserves. As queue-propper-uppers. We showcase them on the weekend, and with 1400 of them in waiting, we never, ever have to worry about the possibility of a shrinking queue. Since the Agricorps can raise or lower the amount of old GAs being showcased per week at will, we can also prevent a ridiculously long queue from forming. A few of the really old GAs need some cleanup at the beginning of their bios, and I invite everyone to help me do that, but a lot of them have held up well. Option 3 keeps the queue focused on newly-passed GAs but doesn't give the shaft to old ones, either. It's the best of both worlds. It prevents the possibility of a shrinking queue and sets a foundation for every existing GA to one day be showcased on the Main Page. Menkooroo 05:11, March 14, 2012 (UTC)
- This seems like the best option to me. We should always be giving preference to our newest articles, but this still allows those that came before to have some face time. The flexibility here is key. Toprawa and Ralltiir 05:19, March 14, 2012 (UTC)

- Per above. It gives the opportunity for old GAs be be shown, and it still keeps the new ones out there. Also, it will save time in the future by giving the AC the flexibility to shift the queue around some, keeping minor changes from a full-fledged CT. I don't think old GAs will be much of a problem since most of them have held up good and they've been watched over to make sure they're up to date, so that shouldn't be much of a problem.—Cal Jedi (Personal Comm Channel) 14:37, March 14, 2012 (UTC)

- I'd also suggest that on days that the mainpage FA doesn't have a picture, we might try to include a GA with a picture as a rule of thumb, if it's not too hard to organise. -- AdmirableAckbar (Talk) 21:04, March 16, 2012 (UTC)
- That's a great idea. I doubt if anyone will mind swapping some GAs on the queue around; we've done it before with FAs for things like Grand Admiral week and Wookiee week. Menkooroo 21:32, March 16, 2012 (UTC)
- Agreed. Also, per Fred. Corellian PremierAll along the watchtower 15:23, March 17, 2012 (UTC)
Option 4: Rotate weeks --- new GAs one week, old GAs the next
- I'm cool with the above choice as well, but I think this option actually allows for more flexibility to do themed weeks. Devoting two weeks per month to older FAs would allow such themes to be organized much more easily than the previous option by the very nature of going week by week rather than weekday vs. weekend. Again, I'd be happy with Option 3 too, and it does have the advantage of flexibility. I'm just not sure how it would work with themes. ~Savage 15:21, March 18, 2012 (UTC)
