I, for one, think that comic panels should be left exactly the way they are, without any text removal. My reasoning is:
- Unedited images are less likely to get us into legal trouble than edited ones.
- In my opinion, empty speech bubbles just look ugly.
I'd like to hear some arguments for and against removing text from speech bubbles. - Sikon 19:24, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'd say it depends. If the text within the speech bubble has any relevance to the image, then yes, it should stay. In the case of non-relevant speech bubbles, the image should be cropped so that it contains no speech bubbles. --Imp 19:27, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- Ideally, images with speech/thought bubbles should be avoided or cropped to remove the offensive bubbles. If the text is unavoidable, I agree with Imp: if the text is in context, it should stay; if it is out of context, it should be removed. --SparqMan 19:38, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, whatever is best for the image, especially when it come to cropping. If the best cropping of an image means that half of a word bubble will be chopped off, then the text is pretty useless (like this, compared to this). But intact bubbles can provide context for the image sometimes (like this). -- Ozzel 19:57, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- I think the images with speech bubbles should not be used unless there is no other image that can be used. The speech bubbles tend to look ugly, with text or without. It also takes away from the picture and is distracting. (I know, I read them a lot and forget what I was doing...) Again, the only time I would use a speech bubble is if it helped the context of the article, but I don't think it's really necessary on that part. -- ChinaMonroe 00:55, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- I am firmly against removing speech bubbles. Kuralyov 19:25, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- I can't see any reason for removing speech bubbles, that big lump of empty white space is more distracting than the text could ever be. And it looks really ugly. Although I'm all for cropping them out, as long as it doesn't ruin the image. HavetStorm 19:46, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Order of preference: 1) Crop them out. 2) Leave text in if the bubble is intact. 3) If the bubble needs to be cut off, blank it. Havac 19:58, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Didn't this get decided before? I agree with Havac. --Xwing328(Talk) 03:33, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

- If we do include speech bubbles, it should have context like the Cade and Kol example. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:22, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
