This page is an archive of a community-wide discussion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made in the Senate Hall or new Consensus Track pages rather than here so that this page is preserved as a historic record. The result of the debate was to approve affiliation with the blog.Atarumaster88(Talk page) 17:20, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Following the proposal made by Trip in Forum:SH Archive/We need a blog, Trip, Dunc, and I went ahead and established a blog at wookieepedia.wordpress.com. Titled "Wookieepedia Newsnet," it wasn't brought into active use until the last couple of weeks, in which I've published samples of the sort of content I'd be adding to it. There've been updates for CTs and the Mofference, a story on off-site publicity, a run-down of articles featured in January and attributed to the users who nominated them, and even interviews with the February Wookieepedian of the Month and newest administrator. The idea is that, for now, I'd be overseeing and maintaining the blog, enlisting the help of Trip and Dunc as well as any Wookieepedians who volunteer their assistance. As time went on and the thing grew, I'd likely bring in other full-time editors. Basically put, a somewhat drier version of the Wookiee-cast on paper. Also further down the road, assuming the blog continues to enjoy the success it's already seen with a limited audience of IRC users and other internet contacts, I think giving the blog a prominent link on the site would be a benefit.
So, following my comments on the forum, I've gone ahead and established the blog, even getting it a highlight on Club Jade, and now I'm here to ask Wookieepedia's approval of it, a la the Official Friends process, basically.
Of course :-). Grunny(Talk) 04:40, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
It really looks good. Cylka-talk- 04:43, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
Since Dunc alerted me to its presence, I've been taking a butcher's now and then. I really like what I'm seeing, so far. Hell, I wouldn't mind if the writers got a bit more personal and, dare I say, opinionated. But, yeah. I like it, and, more importantly, I like where it could go. If anyone has any comments or ideas at all, I'd love to hear them. Even if this doesn't pass somehow, I plan on maintaining the blog as a somewhat more unofficial chronicle of the website, so everyone's input is welcome. Well, except for changing the name or URL; that would be a pain in the rear. :P Graestan(Talk) 04:36, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
While definitely more active as of right now, this isn't the first Wookieepedia-affiliated (or semi-affiliated) blog we have. How should we handle this? jSarek 23:25, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
It was discussed in the original Senate Hall forum. Graestan(Talk) 23:28, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
So it was. Still, it doesn't look like we really came to any conclusions there. Don't get me wrong - you've got my approval, which I apparently failed to add before - I'm just wondering what we do now that we basically have two official blogs, one underused and limited but on TOS, the other new and active. jSarek 02:32, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
This new blog definitely gives us more flexibility than the one on TOS. As I've offered before, if anybody has any content to put on that blog, I'll be more than happy to. Perhaps somebody could even come up with a short brief about us switching to a new blog site? —Xwing328(Talk) 21:34, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
