Moved from my talk page... WhiteBoy 22:47, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi. This is Jaywin. I wanted to make a brief complaint against an administrator, Darth Culator. I was doing a little bot work (which apparently Culator has a problem with, judging by his comment on my talk page), and he banned me without warning.
More specifically, I was going down the list in the Wanted Pages (which I occasionally do) to try and get rid of some redlinks. Today, I was getting rid of some redlinks that mostly involved IP user pages with a template called "user" (which now Culator has gotten rid of as well). I was also putting welcome templates on the talk pages where they were needed. (Apparently I was using the wrong template on the discussion page. Green Tentacle left a message on my talk page, pointing out my error...which was more of a courtesy than Culator provided. I immediately thanked GT for pointing this out to me.) I began getting rid of some redlinks on Special:Userlist, and (without paying attention, I confess), put the user template on a banned user's page. Apparently this is when I got banned.
I went on the IRC channel to try and straighten this out. Darth Culator was there and basically accused me of being irrational and a vandal. When I suggested that he could have assumed good faith and left a message on my talk page, he responded that he hated it when people mentioned "good faith" (or something to that effect) and then proceeded to kick me off of the IRC.
He then "graciously" unblocked me since he "got my attention" [1]...of course, he could have got my attention by leaving a message on my talk page, but I guess that would be too much to ask from an administrator who doesn't seem to have much use for the good faith policy.
Personally, I think that Darth Culator's behavior was quite rude and belligerent, and I would expect more from an administrator. Also, judging from his talk page, I'm not the only one who has a problem with the way he conducts business on Wookieepedia.
This wasn't quite as brief as I hoped. But thank you for taking the time to read this, and please feel free to leave a response on my talk page if you'd like. Have a good one. Jaywin 02:01, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- I think in general Culator conducts himself very well and this is an anomaly. I would like to know, however, if there was a valid reason for deleting Template:User. If I see a new user contributing a lot at one time and there are a ton of redlinks to their userpage in Recent changes, I place the template on their page to remove the annoying redlinks. I'll assume there was a good reason, but if there wasn't (deleted as "nonsense"???), could it be restored please? All it said was "this was placed here to remove redlinks, and we've love for you to tell us about yourself." I do feel it's useful. Wildyoda 22:28, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
- I believe there's a separate CT thread about this. And I also think Culator conducts himself well for the most part, aside from a few anomalous issues (and I'm sure everyone has anomalous issues). Atarumaster88 (Talk page) 16:05, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- He has been rude. He likes insulting people. Many times he has insulted me or people from other websites.—Unsigned comment by SuperSaiyaMan (talk • contribs).
- I don't think being "rude" to people on other websites really concerns us. QuentinGeorge 21:03, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- It still counts for here however. How many people has he banned for not conforming to his SD.net views? Or how many people has he made fun of, calling them idiots and morons? —Unsigned comment by SuperSaiyaMan (talk • contribs).

- I don't think he's banned anyone for their views. You are still posting here, are you not? QuentinGeorge 21:12, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- Though going by the way he's acting, SSM won't be here posting for long...--RedemptionTalk 21:13, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- if he calls you an idiot, just ignore him. He clearly hasn't banned you, as you're editing right now, so just ignore him. If you're conflicting on a page about an unofficial site, the maybe you should consider editing 'proper' articles, of things in the SW universe, rather than fan sites. People will always piss you off on the internet; just ignore it, there's nothing they can really do AdmirableAckbar 21:15, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Though how can he get away with insulting members all the time? Just last night, he's called me a moron, troll, idiot, thicked skulled, etc. This isn't proper administrator behavior.
- and he won't be the only one if you don't let this go. He was mean to you. Get over it. ignore him. AdmirableAckbar 15:36, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- I agree with that. However, you are egging each other on, and I think both of you need to ignore each other to avoid this from escalating even further. StarNeptuneTalk to me! 15:37, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Of course, Culator has gone and blocked him permanently. I don't think that was really necessary - it seems to be that a warning from a party who isn't personally involved in the dispute, or can at least claim to have been neutral in whatever discussions up to that point, should precede such an action. (And now that I've said that, I guess I'm no longer entirely neutral, so I won't unblock him myself. I will restore the deleted user talk page as a record of the warnings and the dispute.) —Silly Dan (talk) 16:32, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- And he needs to stay blocked. He made it quite clear he had no interest in improving Wookieepedia, he only wanted to insert his own bias into pages he had a personal interest in. When it became apparent to him that I was going to impede this, he started trying to draw uninvolved parties into his crusade. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 16:36, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Had I known he was bothering people over IM as well, I'd have considered the block much more justifiable: I'm really more concerned about the combative tone you took when warning him, and possibly the length of the block. (Would he contribute productively if told to stay off the Sd.net related pages? I don't know.) —Silly Dan (talk) 00:58, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

- i agree. looking at his edit count, all he seemed to do was try and add something, then moan (a lot) when it was removed. It's not like anyone will actually miss him AdmirableAckbar 17:58, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
