Celebration IV > Design a shirt

As Wookieepedians are interested in attending Celebration IV, the concept of a t-shirt contest was brought up to garner attention to a product that could be sold as merchandise, possibly as fundraising for C4. Post all ideas down below and a vote will be held on some of the best ideas. The chosen idea or ideas will then be transfered to clothing.

Darth LibertyEdit

Darth Liberty

Could it have such text as "For Wookiees and Consensus For All..."? "Wookiees" and "Consensus" could also be replaced with different terms, whichever works out. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:00, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Yoda LibertyEdit

In Yoda We Trust

As said, this makes more sense.

Comments and VotesEdit

  • It has been brought to my attention that this would look even better as Yoda w/ green saber, which makes even more sense IU wise. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:08, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
    • It appears that my designs suck in comparison. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:15, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
      • Nah, I probably wouldn't have even made a design if you hadn't started it. And I'd hope mine are good since I have to do this stuff for my major, and eventually for my job. —Xwing328(Talk) 16:34, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Here's a design I threw together that has very few colors, so it would be cheaper to print. The Aurebesh text says The Star Wars Wiki. —Xwing328(Talk) 05:35, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Gotta say I like this the best so far. Cull Tremayne 06:01, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
      • Ah, I must admit, I do like. Now if we could only get more competition involved. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:14, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
        • I put a page in the Senate Hall - Forum:Design a shirt contest. Hopefully that will bring more people. —Xwing328(Talk) 14:50, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
          • It's a nice design. StarNeptuneTalk to me! 15:12, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
            • Due to comments to the contrary, I feel it necessary to explain that the artwork in this picture is NOT copyrighted by Lucasfilm Ltd. While the image is based on one of their images, it is a vector line drawing created by me in FreeHand, completely editable and not copyrighted. —Xwing328(Talk) 22:24, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
              • Well that's some damn good drawing you made then. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:13, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
                • This is my favorite so far. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Audience Chamber) 06:28, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
                  • Riff: It's knowing how to fix it yourself and manipulate software. Think of it like tracing on a monitor instead of paper. —Xwing328(Talk) 16:26, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Plain textEdit

Because I suck at image manipulation, my design is just plain text to be placed on the front of the shirt. Simple to print, as it's only one color. StarNeptuneTalk to me! 15:12, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

  • This may actually be the way to go, since it seems Lucasfilm is cracking down on usage of their IP for t-shirts [1]. jSarek 00:31, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
    • You know, I was fiddling around in the SW Shop and never realized until now that you can customize a shirt of theirs (as long as it includes one of their pre-determined phrases), but nonetheless, better than nothing. -- Riffsyphon1024 19:36, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
    • If we go with this, I think it should be slightly more readable, not much, just a bit. —Xwing328(Talk) 02:55, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Please don't use the term "intellectual property". It's ambiguous and has been invented for brainwashing people into thinking copyrights, patents and trademarks must be treated like real property. - Sikon 11:36, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Looks like a 8-yr-old wrote it. Do we want to be professional with something written like this? No offense Star. ;) -- Riffsyphon1024 04:01, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Besides being made easier to read, I think it would also be good if the actual title were larger than the subtitle. – Aidje talk 02:28, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Wonder what it would look like in Arubesh?Tocneppil 11:07, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
      • Or Shyriiwook?Tocneppil 11:12, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
        • You don't happen to speak it do you? -- Riffsyphon1024 19:21, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
          • Isn't it all one big 'vowel-movement'? :) Actually I was thinking what the writing might look like 'style'-wise.Tocneppil 20:59, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
            • If I knew how much speaking Shyriiwook was like taking a dump. :P But what style do you mean? -- Riffsyphon1024 21:26, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
              • Well, I was thinking that if Lucasfilm was restricting the use of their images (as mentioned above), perhaps we could use font-style -like Arubesh- incorporated into a stylized logo rather than just the plain text given in StarNeptune's example.Tocneppil 21:37, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
                • They may have Aurebesh copyrighted too. -- Riffsyphon1024 21:43, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Here is an Aurabesh alternative version I created. StarNeptuneTalk to me! 14:32, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

  • More professional, as long as Aurebesh is fine for us to use. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:03, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
    • Looks good -would it be too cheeky if we were to put the email address in Arubesh, too? :)Tocneppil 11:07, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
      • Not many people would understand it then. —Xwing328(Talk) 16:31, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Votes and CommentsEdit

I figured the "join me, it is your destiny!" quote from Palpatine would be kinda cool, so, I put the logo for Wookieepedia within a circle, and added below it: "Join is your destiny!". Thoughts? Brain40 14:23, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Not bad. The resolution is kinda low though. —Xwing328(Talk) 02:50, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Feel free to download it to your computer and edit it as you please. Brain40 22:00, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
    • OK, I created basically a resolution-independent .png of it. If it shows up with a gray background, that's because of the transparency. Both images would be 2-3 inks only. Black, white, and red (on the 2nd). Many color combinations are easily possible. See my photobucket album for more. —Xwing328(Talk) 06:59, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
      • This is better -very professional. Multiple color options do encourage better sales, although let's not go too overboard: The red on black is good, nice and sharp, attracts the eye to the image, which is what you want. Silver on Navy (dark) blue, silver (or white) on black, and black on white are generally good color combinations, too, IMHO. Brighter colors are good, but there's always the risk of something looking too garish, like silver on purple ;)Tocneppil 11:26, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
      • Okay, I'm glad you guys like my picture and can use it. Brain40 11:41, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
        • It was a great idea. And I was having fun last night. I probably went a bit overboard with the colors. Hehe :P —Xwing328(Talk) 16:37, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
      • Thanks! And your version blows all the others by a mile. Brain40
        • This gets my vote. -Solus 01:45, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Wookieepedia logo from the sourceEdit

Okay, the original DSII is just NOT THAT BIG so it's a bit rough. But I redid the text and such from scratch, added the URL.

I'll work on something that doesn't use a LFL image in a bit. -- Dark Spork 05:37, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

  • Perhaps the URL could be slightly bigger, Spork? -- Riffsyphon1024 07:38, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
  • I like this one. Kuralyov 07:54, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
  • This one = least tacky/most cool. .... 08:07, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Any updates? -- Riffsyphon1024 04:09, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
  • This one has a nice contrast between the dark exterior of the DSII and the white text. And it's less tacky, yes. I like it. :D VT-16 13:28, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
  • So how would this look if we enlarged it for a banner at C4? —Xwing328(Talk) 14:52, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
    • Good, though the URL needs to be enlarged too. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:07, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Or the AlternateEdit

After having this stagnant, would we still want to do this? This site may be the ticket to producing something fair however even it is limited. Any other ideas? -- Riffsyphon1024 23:04, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Sadly, I think interest in this has died. —Xwing328(Talk) 07:45, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
    • Agreed. -- Riffsyphon1024 07:59, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
      • I still think Wookieepedia shirts would be awesome, but if there isn't anyone prepared to take responsibility for getting it done, then I guess the project is dead. Charlii 12:35, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Left over shirtsEdit

Are there any left over shirts from CIV? I'd love to get one if so. --Eyrezer 11:48, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Uh, count me in on this post-C4 possibility of shirt. I completely forgot about it. Thefourdotelipsis 11:58, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
