The only problem I can see is "4. Have a free license." I don't know much about licensing, but I assume that Wikipedia does that because fair use doesn't apply when the image isn't being used for illustrative purposes. Of course, this place is practically made of things under Lucasfilm's trademark (heck, our logo has three trademarked items in it), so that may not be as much of a problem. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable on this subject can clarify it. I would suggest, though, that we require that they be used in an article, so we don't get people uploading copyrighted images just to feature them.
Anyone else think that we should implement something like this? - Lord Hydronium 02:38, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Somebody brought it up quite a while back. I don't remember what happened though. I kinda like the idea. --Xwing328(Talk) 06:01, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
I'm not sure what use it would have, since it doesn't really reflect the skill of the submitter. Unlike featured articles, and unlike pictures on Wikipedeia, pictures here are never *created* by the editors, merely scanned and cropped. Now, while I appreciate a decent scan job and cleanup for posting is a far from trivial task, I don't think a featured picture category would be reflecting those attributes, in which case it just becomes a popularity contest for existing Star Wars art. jSarek 09:09, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Im 50-50 on this one, it would be kinda cool but i dont really know what use it would have. I think if they did have them, it should be pretty hard to get one so you couldn't just submit any random SW picture. It should be a true Star Wars work of art or something that really represents Star Wars. Roron Corobb 9:25, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
I agree with jSarek. Aayla Secura on the front page every day = Ugh. StarNeptuneTalk to me! 01:27, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
The illustrations for featured articles are decoration enough, IMO. —Silly Dan(talk) 01:37, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
