There is a Consensus Track on whether Wookieepedia should have image galleries. Most of the votes, icluding my own, supported deleting images that are uploaded only for use in a gallery, but images that are in a gallery and also placed on one or more articles are fine. There are a lot of really good images though that just may not fit in an article. Would it satisfy the terms of fair use if rather than having a separate page for a gallery, the gallery were simply placed at the bottom of the article. For example, any image found in the Yuuzhan Vong gallery that isn't placed somewhere directly in the Yuuzhan Vong article, could be displayed in a gallery at the bottom of the article. This might also help alleviate any problem with people trying to cram a good picture into an article where their just isn't room. - JMAS 19:56, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

  • I agree with you (if that is indeed your opinion and not just me projecting my own views onto you) that we could make more use of galleries in articles. Jedi Apparel is an example of and article which has benefitted from the galley function as is Seven Dark Jedi. Come to think of it Dark Forces saga could also benefit from a gallery. • To give an example of how this could work, I took all the unused images from Gallery of Kirana Ti images and put them at the bottom of the actual article for Kirana Ti - JMAS 23:00, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
      • That actually looks kind of good, but this could get out of hand. A limit would definitely need to be established if we did this. Of course, if there are enough images to make the gallery too big, the article itself should be long enough to use those excess images. —Xwing328(Talk) 06:30, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
        • Should we put this up for a consensus vote? I know there are several Wookieepedians, myself included, who don't want to see quality images, that are currently only in galleries because there just isn't enough room in the article, deleted. But if having a separate gallery page stretches the boundaries of Fair Use, this solution would satisfy that need. - JMAS 01:29, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
          • I'm going to go ahead and start implementing this then on some of the smaller galleries out there. - JMAS 00:56, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
  • Does anyone else think that these galleries are getting out of hand? Just look at Ithor. The gallery section is longer than the article, and there is no reason to have most of them there. Kuralyov 20:15, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
  • No no no we need sepret Gallerie pages. some galleries are just too big to keep on the article 74.244.187.222 20:20, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
    • The "Known Ithorians" section should be moved to its own gallery page. In-page galleries should just be for images relevant to the topic, not for every single Ithorian image. Just imagine if Human had a gallery of every single human attached to the end of it. —Xwing328(Talk) 21:52, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
