they both have the same lightsaber style and the same master, Anakin Skywalker. Even though Anakin is constantly trying to rid Ahsoka of her preferential style. Is there any canon reason to the similarity or is it just a coincidence?
I think it's a coincidence and by the way please sign your posts.Sith Lord 1138 21:08, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I forgot. This is pure speculation, but it could have been designed as her style as a nod to Starkiller by the crew. Dave Filoni did state that there was going to be a lot of easter eggs in the show. Riley7 21:38, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
I don't think it's a nod or an easter egg. I remember seeing an interview where Dave Filoni said they gave Ahsoka her reverse-grip style because the reverse-grip style had an "alien" look to it. 220.127.116.11 16:01, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
The only canon way that it would make sense is if Kento Marek taught early lightsaber technique at the Temple (of which there is zero evidence) and that Kento himself used that backward style (also of which there is no evidence). . But if he did teach SOME padawans lightsaber skills, then perhaps at least some of his students picked up that style (Ahsoka at some point before the Clone Wars and his son Garen post-Purge). Again, NO evidence of this, just a hypothesis as to the only possible way there would be a connection.
speaking of hypothesis'. Maybe Vader remembers Ahsoka and that is what he teaches Galen Marek. Riley7 21:17, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
I thought of that too, but Anakin is trying to break Ahsoka of that lightsaber style, meaning he doesn't like it, meaning he'd never teach it to Galen/Starkiller. Taral, Dark Lord of the Sith 14:18, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
I just thought that since in a lot of the media in between Eps III-IV, Vader has shown to still have some semblance of Anakin Skywalker in him. As Ahsoka doesn't show up in post-purge media, for the sake of this hypothesis, I am assuming she died or went into hiding. Vader would think she's dead either way, and in Anakin-ish moment, teaches Galen that style. Riley7 14:41, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
