Hi all,
I wanted to ask if anybody of you knows if wookiees can speak a K. I wondered this because I had the feeling that all that chewbacca says in the episodes is just something like wrraarrr uuuuuurrrrh or so. But I didnt have the impression that a wookiee can speak a K. I ask that because if that is true - then wookiees can't spell their own homeplanet. I think it wouldnt fit for a wookiee to say words like kashyyyk, because every other words consists of rrrrrrrrrs and ooooooors but I never heard yyys or ks. If anyone knows the ultimate answer please tell me.
- Kashyyyk is the name in Galactic Basic Standard. In Shyriiwook, it's probably something like "Huuuurrrrrr." Menkooroo 13:13, June 10, 2011 (UTC)
- Well, do not the suffixes like "Bacca" come from Shyriiwook? While it's true that Kasshyyk probably isn't what they call the planet, I think it would be possible for them to actually pronounce the sound, especially since (IIRC) some Wookiees have learned to speak Basic. Though those individuals are rare. NaruHina Talk 19:55, June 11, 2011 (UTC)
- The letter “K” comes up in a lot of different words regarding Wookiees that we know in Basic. However what we hear and how they pronounce the letter can be totally different things. Or the "K" could be silent altogether. Ralrracheen talks to Leia and she is able to understand him with his speech impediment. In “Heir To The Empire” page 196 he says “[I to Rwookrrorro welcome you]”. Darth Ankrahmun 03:47, June 12, 2011 (UTC)
