Yeah right before Luke entered the Dark Side Cave, Yoda told him that he would not need his weapons. Luke didnt listen, but it turns out he needed them, more specifically his lightsaber. Why would Yoda lie to him?126.96.36.199 02:03, February 25, 2012 (UTC)
I think it has something to do with trusting your feelings. Throughout the Star Wars original saga and even beyond that, trusting your inner feelings and instincts is a big part of it...almost like a moral. So when Yoda told Luke not to bring his lightsaber, Yoda was actually testing Luke to see if he would follow is inner instincts. Hope that helps The Awesome X!
It's been a while since I've seen ESB, but I recall Luke asking what was in the cave. Yoda answered, "Only what you take with you." If he had left his weapons, his opponent would have been disarmed also. Perhaps that is why when the mask explodes, Luke sees himself. Only Luke entered, and, really, only Luke was there. Maybe the failure was not heeding Yoda's warning, a mistake he makes again later by running off to face Vader before his training was complete. Hope this helps.
