If Darth maul is seen alive after Episode 1 in The Clone Wars series, is it that he never died in Episode 1, or is it that he died and was resurrected. I know that Dr. Evazan died and was resurrected. If Maul never died it would mean that the scene in The Phantom Menace is not canon, and that T-canon took precedence over G-canon. I seem to think that he was resurrected, because G-canon takes precedence over T-canon. If he died and was resurrected, he can be alive after Episode 1 with the scene in TPM still being canon. Which one is true? 173.51.117.61 04:17, October 14, 2011 (UTC)
- It has not been established that Darth Maul was resurected. His image merely appeared in a
mystical crystal ball owned by a witch, who sent his brother on a quest to find him. That is pretty much all you know. You can speculate as much as you want, but there is no answer yet. If he is resurected, as a cyborg, undead zombie or what have you, I'm giving up star wars. He was sliced in two in the climax of episode 1.. G-canon! There is no higher source unless George Lucas dies and is resurected himself!40 Year Old Virgin 07:31, October 14, 2011 (UTC)
- Follow the news, bro. It was recently announced that Maul will be in TCW Season 4, in an episode (or a trilogy, if memory serves), to air in early 2012. I don't think that's an excuse to give up on Star Wars, though. The non-permanence of death is a staple of science fiction and fantasy. Gandalf. Aslan. Jason Todd. Captain America. All dead, all resurrected. Taral, Dark Lord of the Sith -Just shy, not antisocial: You can talk to me!- 13:45, October 14, 2011 (UTC)

- Yes, but Lucas said in the DVD commentary that Boba Fett survived, which is G-canon. Is Lucas himself going to say that Darth Maul is alive after TPM, making his life after TPM G-canon? Did Darth Maul get resurrected in-universe, like Dr Evazan or Maul's resrrection by the Prophets of the Dark Side; or did he never die on Naboo? Fates can be changed, but T-Canon cannot override G-canon. Is this correct? 173.51.117.61 19:59, October 14, 2011 (UTC)
- The DVD commentary for Return of the Jedi stated that "Most fans believe Fett didn't die". That does not constitute a directive from George Lucas that he survived. Taral, Dark Lord of the Sith -Just shy, not antisocial: You can talk to me!- 15:02, October 24, 2011 (UTC)

- Thanks for the heads up Taral. I didn't see any press on Maul's resurrection obviously. Let's hope it's more plausible than it sounds. Though as a Sith Lord, I can see why George Lucas would like to get more milage out of him. He deserves a gimmick! So far his only gimmick was being Ray Park.
In response to our friend here, if I haven't blown too much credibility, regarding T-canon overriding G-canon..I understand what you're saying, but G-canon is what it is. Maul coming back doesn't change the outcome of the film plot. Just like Lucas saying some people believe Boba Fett comes back, yet in EU, he comes back and virtually saves the universe. If Maul returned and changed the course of the war however, he's probably opening a giant can of worms. Who knows, maybe Ventress and Maul get married and raise a clan of badasses..lol40 Year Old Virgin 22:36, October 14, 2011 (UTC)
- So even if Maul lives, the scene in Episode 1 is still canon and not overriden because it does not change the plot of the film, and that his survival or resurrection can still be G-canon like Boba Fett? If Dr. Evazan can be resurrected, then I guess Darth Maul can too. 173.51.117.61 00:51, October 15, 2011 (UTC)
- If I remember right, there was no dark side energy explosion thingy when Maul fell down the shaft like with the Emperor in ROTJ or the C'Baoth clone in the Thrawn Trilogy. Maybe that's an indicator that Darth Maul didn't die in Episode I. But I bet it left a sweet scar... haha. --TelecasterJedi 00:13, October 16, 2011 (UTC)Telecaster Jedi
- It was George Lucas who had Maul killed in Episode I, and it's George Lucas who issued the directive to have Maul resurrected. A T-canon–G-canon conflict is moot here because Lucas was involved in both sides of the conflict. We'll see what happens once Spring 2012 rolls around. CC7567 (talk) 00:17, October 16, 2011 (UTC)
- Why does there have to be a dark side energy explosion when a Sith Apprentice is killed? We didn't see that happen when Count Dooku was beheaded. Why does Maul have to be resurrected. Wasn't Palpatine obsessed with clones. Even C'boath had a clone of Luke Skywalker and Thrawn had his own clone stored away. Couldn't Palpatine have a batch of clones, or at least the necessary materials stored, in case he lost his investment in his apprentices? Darth Pippen 12:29, October 18, 2011 (UTC)Darth Pippen
- To address the first question, you are correct, Sith Lords are not required to explode upon death. Palpatine released waves of Dark Side energy intentionally, likely as a part of his resurrection/assassination gambit. DD97Which bear is best? 19:52, October 18, 2011 (UTC)
First, it's strange to compare the deaths and resurrection of Gandalf and Aslan with Darth Maul's, which has clearly just been added because it will attract viewers (and make money). I don't mean to be cynical, but can you people not see Star Wars as no more than a story? I like Star Wars, but I don't live it.
- What in the name of Lucas does he think this is? Lord of the Rings? I'm done with TCW crap. No offense but, how does he get away with this?-Boba fett 32 16:52, October 21, 2011 (UTC)
- Well Darth Maul is known as the "phantom menace". Bugger just keep comin back! Could be a force phantom a clone, a holocron gatekeeper orany number of things. Too early to judge the lameness of this turn in the plot. Stuff this lame is usually further down the scale of canonicity. But Lucas may be just losing his marbles also.
- I hope Maul's return can sound plausible and make the story ineresting, like with Boba Fett, and not sound dumb like Eeth Koth's return. It seems Dave Filoni likes Zabraks. I seem to think that Maul will die in a rematch with Obi-Wan, be killed by Anakin, earning him a spot on the council; or be killed by Dooku, Sidious, or Vader for violating the Rule of Two, as Maul will not be needed anymore once the Empire takes power. 173.51.117.61 00:31, October 22, 2011 (UTC)
- It seems that Episode 3 hints that Maul survived. Palpatine says that "He could save others from death, but not himself". It appears that Plagueis saved Maul. On the back cover of the Darth Plagueis novel, there is a picture of Darth Maul, and it says "Plagueis was the most powerful Sith lord who ever lived, but could he be the only one who never died?" It appears that Maul's survival was mentioned before the Clone Wars series was created. It appears that Maul's survival was not Dave Filoni's idea. 173.51.117.61 03:26, October 27, 2011 (UTC)
- I wholeheartedly disagree, 173. I think Maul is on the back cover of Darth Plagueis because the story will probably end with Sidious killing Plagueis and taking Maul as his apprentice. Everything seems to indicate that Plagueis died years before Episode I. Palpatine's comment in Episode III about Plagueis is just to demonstrate irony. He could save others (not Maul, just others) but could not adapt his technique to save himself. Taral, Dark Lord of the Sith -Just shy, not antisocial: You can talk to me!- 14:31, October 27, 2011 (UTC)
- Maul's survival was definitely not Filoni's idea, that honor goes to either Aaron McBride, Ron Marz, Joe Casey, or the designers of Star Wars: Demolition. DD97Which bear is best? 14:34, October 27, 2011 (UTC)
- Will we ever find out how he survived or was resurrected? Is the scene in Episode 1 still canon? Plagueis was not alive at the time of Episode 1, but his force powers might have still been present or saved somewhere after his death to save Maul. 173.51.117.61 23:03, October 29, 2011 (UTC)
