After watching the movie Rogue One and the Star Wars: Rebels episode "Secret Cargo" where the Ghost ferries Mon Mothma around back-to-back recently I noticed there seems to be a discrepancy in the depiction of the main weapon batteries of the ISD Mk I-class Star Destroyer.
In Rogue One, ISDs that are seen such as Tarkin's Executrix have the "canon" correct battery of six heavy dual turbolaser turrets and two heavy dual ion cannon turrets at the sides of the superstructure, this can be also seen in the image of the Executrix when it floats out of the shadow of the Death Star. Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide also shows the 6 x 2 TL-Turrets and 2 x 2 IC-Turrets as canon main battery and provides a picture of Vader's Devastator for comparison as well.
In the Rebels episode "Secret Cargo" though the two ISDs commanded by Governor Pryce and Admiral Konstantine have four Octuple Barbette Turbolaser-Turrets flanking the superstructure instead, it can be seen when they fire on Ezra's Y-Wing.
Now these two SDs are supposed to be ISD I models, are they not? The Octuple Barbette Turbolaser however is the main battery of the ISD II which does already exist in the new "Disney"-canon. The ISD II entered production around the time of Rogue One though, two years after this Rebels episode, as the Devastator is mentioned in Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide to be the last ISD I build before KDY started with the ISD II.
Question is though is this just a continuity error the animators of Rebels overlooked or is this deliberate as one has to remember that these SDs shown are part of Thrawn's Seventh Fleet and the Grand Admiral is shown in the new canon to have a knack for new technology like i.e. the TIE Defender, so maybe some of Thrawn's ISD I models are outfitted with the Octuple Barbette Turbolaser-Turrets as testbeds for the new ISD II model that is already in planning stage?
