The main explanation that seems to be given for the reason mostly Force-users use lightsabers is
"Lightsaber combat was difficult to master for a number of reasons, one of them being that all of the weight a lightsaber had was in its hilt, and the gyroscopic effect caused resistance to changes in motion, or built up momentum so quickly than an untrained wielder could lose control of the weapon. "
I was thinking, that a lightsaber would lose much of it's potency if not able to deflect blaster bolts (sort of like using a sword against a gun in today's world), and only Force-users can pull that off. Can't that be a simple reason why lightsabers are generally used by Force users?
Lightsabers are, well like you said swords against guns, so that is why I would say you don't find lightsabers being used by everyone, also the weapon is just plane hard to find to be conventional. 02:34, May 20, 2011 (UTC)
Swords require skill. Guns don't. Problem solved. Karohalva 05:34, May 21, 2011 (UTC)
Since lightsabers were almost exclusively constructed by force users only, it would also make sense that they be the ones that have them in their possession for use. A non-force user could carry one more as a trophy from a jedi they had slain, eventually gaining some proficiencey in it's use. Danzig Corridor220.127.116.11 10:37, May 25, 2011 (UTC)
Also, I doubt any non-force user would have the precision to deflect blaster bolts without cyborg enhancementDarth Bal 19:24, June 22, 2011 (UTC)
