So I'm working on the Mandalorian Protectors article, and can't help noticing the attribution of every Mandalorian that showed up in Legacy of the Force to the Mandalorian Protectors, and the same for the ones in Fate of the Jedi. I haven't read FotJ, but I can't recall the Mandalorians from LotF ever being called anything other than plain Mandalorians. Was there a mention of "Protectors" that I missed? And can anyone tell me if their brief appearances in Fate of the Jedi referred to them as "Protectors", or just generically as Mandalorians? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Bloodlines mentions it, but Boba's referring to his "Journeyman Protector days," clearly meaning he's not a Protector anymore. He's talking about when he was with Sintas, a Protector then, and had to kill the officer. Sacrifice has nothing and Revelations mentions the rapist officer, again saying Boba "was" a Protector. Invnceible doesn't have them either. The word protector was mentioned less than ten times in LOTF, and the only reference to the Mandaorians were those, as "Journeymen. So, no, they didnt appear there.
I haven't read FOTJ, so I can't give context for these things, but here goes. Mandalorian Protectors do explicitly appear as Daala's enforcers in Allies, sieging the Jedi Temple on Coruscant for her in Chapter 20. "Protector" is not attached, but Daala's Mandalorians are attacking in Vortex, so I guess that makes them Protectors too even though the word isn't said. Conviction has the Temple attack and explicitly the Mandalorians on a viewscreen, Holonet coverage. Daala's also meeting with Boba Fett for some reason in that book, but the word "Protectors" is never said. Ascension mentions the Mandalorians attacking the Temple, talking about political repurcussions of Daala's using them and being, in general, a jerk. Ascension also says she called them in to suppress riots by the Octusi. The Mandalorian siege was mentionedin Apocalypse. NaruHinaTalk 19:14, September 7, 2012 (UTC)
So the only time "Protector" is ever used in LotF is in reference to the Journeyman Protectors, not the Mandalorian Protectors. Interesting. Thanks for that, Naru. Bella'Mia (talk) 01:35, September 8, 2012 (UTC)
Another thing to note: that Daala was gathering Mandalorians for a royal guard was mentioned in Millennium Falcon. It seems that it's going to be its own plot, but I'm not done with the book yet. Seff Hellin is looking for anti-Mandalorian droids in the style of the Yuuzhan Vong Hunters. NaruHinaTalk 01:02, September 15, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, Naru. I really appreciate your follow-up comment. However, the main thing I'm really looking to find here is are the Mandos referred to specifically as "Mandalorian Protectors". It seems like no one has made any attempt to decree any Mandalorians after the Yuuzhan Vong War as Mandalorian Protectors, and I just want to double-check that point while I'm working on their article. There's a line in the Galaxy at War sourcebook that states the "Protector traditions declined under Boba Fett" so it seems like an in-universe acceptance of this trend, I just wanted to see if there was anything I overlooked. Ah, cool beans. NaruHinaTalk 02:47, September 15, 2012 (UTC)
