Hello. I would like to know if ship classes in Star Wars are named after the lead ship of the class. This is common here on Earth, for example, the US Iowa-class battleships class was named after the lead ship USS Iowa (BB-61). I would like to know if it's the same in Star Wars. Like was the Imperator-class Star Destroyer named after the lead ship of the class Imperator. In asking this, all other ship classes are included. Thank you.MadMarekYouCanCallMeJames 09:32, August 1, 2014 (UTC)
- It may appear that way, but we make no assumptions here. For example, for years the Imperial-class was officially just the Imperial-class, and while there was a Star Destroyer Imperator it was just another Imperial-class Star Destroyer until Revenge of the Sith: Incredible Cross-Sections created a new backstory to match that naming convention. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 16:36, August 1, 2014 (UTC)
- I see. But remember, my questionis not limited to the Imperator or the Imperial-class Star Destroyer, I'm also referring to all other ship classes, like the Harrower-class, Dreadnought-class, Victory-class, Venator-class, etc. But thanks anyway.MadMarekYouCanCallMeJames 11:00, August 2, 2014 (UTC)
