I find it contradictory that Palpatine is noted for being deformed by the Dark Side as shown in his face, but in SW Ep III he is electrocuted by his own power propagation. So which one is true? Dark Side corruption or physical deformation?
I say both.He was already old and filled with dark side so he looked wrinkaly. But heres another thing no one EVER considers(or maybe they do i dont read minds)The science between Force lightning and lightsabers.Who knows what kind of phisics or chemistry is going on when those to meet.Possibly causing the uglyness when regular force lightning does not. Sith-venator Sorry forgot to sighn.
Nothing has ever really been "proven". I support the "mask" theory Darth Marik87 20:51, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
There are several sources showing Palpatine's "ugly" face in the years before the duel takes place. One shows him while training a young Darth Maul (Jedi vs. Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force) and the other is in Sithisis, when he changes shape to look like the regular Palpatine. Oh yeah, wasn't it mentioned in a WOTC article? VT-16 22:00, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Hi the prof here. I heard it was either because so much dark energy was going into him that he was suddenly deformed or that was his true dark lord of the sith form since he bacame a sith and the dark energy triggered it. The prof
Forgive me for my ignorance, but what is the "mask" theory?
Not so much a theory as a Sith power. It's Sith Alchemy-induced, to make a person look physically different than what he/she truly is. VT-16 15:04, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Proof of the mask theory is in EP II. He looks physically older than in EP III. Maybe his powers of concealment were failing at the time.User:Revanthereformer1138
That does not constitute proof. And I don't get your argument. Are you supporting or not supporting the mask theory? If his face just melted, then of course he would have looked older since it's his real appearance. If he used a mind trick, then he would have been able to change others' perception of him. He would have made himself appear older so that there would be no suspicion on him. If he used mask, I'm sure something as powerful as sith alchemy would have allowed him to create a mask that aged like normal. I am saying that he was using the force to physically keep his face from shriveling, sort of like force botox. I think that his powers were failing at the time of ep 2 and that when the clone wars started he fed off the suffering in the galaxy to make him appear a little younger, sort of like what Darth Bane did but on a larger scale. As for the force lightning I think that when it was deflected by Mace it literally reversed the effects of the "Force Botox"User:Revanthereformer1138
