When was the name Palpatine first used for the Emperor? I recently tried looking up scripts of the original trilogy but they don't seem to have it at all; was it only in the expanded universe content before episode 3 came out or am I missing something?
Yup, it was in the novel's prologue. It says: "Aided and abetted by restless, power-hungry individuals within the government, and the massive organs of commerce, the ambitious Senator Palpatine caused himself to be elected President of the Republic. He promised to reunite the disaffected among the people and to restore the remembered glory of the Republic. Once secure in office he declared himself Emperor, shutting himself away from the populace." - Brandon Rhea(talk) 22:35, January 25, 2017 (UTC)
Which, incidentally, was published before the first film premiered. ProfessorTofty (talk) 20:14, January 28, 2017 (UTC)
