I just noticed it for the first time when I watched the re-release. I tried looking it up and I've heard it called "worrt," "sevorrt," and "frog-dog." (I think its worrt, but I'm not sure. The frog-dog is seen shortly before inside Jabba's palace, if I'm not mistaken). I could have easily missed it though. Was it in the original film, or did it just get some CGI edits to make it more noticeable? Could someone also tell me exactly what it is? Also, is a "worrt" in The Force Awakens? I noticed one on the title page of the Visual Dictionary and it totally threw me off. —Unsigned comment by184.108.40.206 (talk • contribs).
The creature outside Jabba's Palace in Episode VI is a indeed a worrt (not to be confused with sevorrts, a related species that only appeared in the late MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies, and with frog-dogs, which are distinctly different). The worrt was already present in the original version of Episode VI, and yes, one such creature (sort of) appears in Episode VII: it's hidden in the uppermost cage transported by Bobbajo—you can see it a little here. --LelalMekha (talk) 08:18, August 12, 2016 (UTC)
Thanks. Was this in there for comic relief or some other purpose? This seems to be the first real introduction of Lucas' childish humor, and a prelude to Jar Jar.220.127.116.11 22:28, August 13, 2016 (UTC)
