Say I'm out and about in some restaurant on Coruscant in Senate District, and I want to call my brother out on Alderaan. What am I gonna use? My datapad? Or am I really going to have to wait until I get to a terminal somewhere and hope he's at the terminal too?
You're gonna need to use a ouija board, because there ain't no Alderaan anymore. IFYLOFD(Floyd's crib) 03:11, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
I would assume a comlink would be what you're looking for. Preferably one with a HoloNet link<-Omicron 03:13, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
Silly Floyd. Ouija boards aren't in the GFFA. =P Trak NarRamble on 03:17, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
Subspace transceivers are limited to about 25-100 light years, and even though they can be patched together into networks, those networks are generally only on the scale of a single sector; so if you want to reach Alderaan from Coruscant, you'll need either a very expensive hyperradio or access to the HoloNet. And if you're a civilian during the time of the Galactic Empire, you'll probably have to resort to either a courier ship or a message drone, because the HoloNet was reserved for military use during that time. jSarek 14:48, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
