While Star Wars:Old Republic is still considered officially Non Cannon the ultimate status is up in the air. While recently replaying through some of the legacy content on Belsavis I was intrigued by a conversation that takes place in the planets quest line.
You are battling the Esh'kah an ancient race imprisoned by the Rakata on the planet some 20,000 years before the Old Republic time. The Esh'kah are attempting to activate the "World Razer" a weapon capable of destroying planets. The quest giver, General Skylast, said that he searched records and that all the information he found had terms like "planet killer" and "star eater".
The facts as we know them from SWTOR:
1. Belsavis is an icy, but not ice planet
2. It has a planet killing weapon built into the planet.
3. This planet eats stars.
4. The Empire holds this planets and its ancient technology in high regard.
While the writers of Force Awakens may not directly call Starkiller Base by its world name, the influence of SWTOR's Belsavis is a hard one to ignore.
While there are similarities, it's probably by chance. Star Wars has had numerous planet-destroying superweapons throughout its history, so Starkiller was bound to reflect another one. Also, the idea for Starkiller was likely conceived from Luke's original name, not Legends material. Cwedin(talk) 08:24, February 11, 2016 (UTC)
